Later in the story it says Mr Booth added: “By the end of this year we intend to have newer buses in the school fleet, and by September we should have newer buses on the Leeds route too.”
Could therefore be misreporting by a T&A journalist who doesn't know the finer points of bus operations and the concept of new, newer, cascades etc.

I'd heard that the current Mainline B7s are heading to Keighley for the 760, and September time would tie in with this as the new Mainline fleet is due over the summer. But then I'm sure Alex has tweeted recently that all operations are to receive new buses this year. It also explains why there's usually a B10/B7 on the K3/K5 now

It's too busy for singles.

Have read the article. Perhaps the little b******s should be refused access to a school bus, meaning that parents would need to ensure that their little darlings made it to school in mum or dad's car. I suspect however that someone would consider that refusing the use of a bus would breach the children's human rights.

Can't see singles on the 760, it's only in the last year or so they've made it entirely double deck, from the previous double/single mix.

The Presidents aren't exactly full to bursting and if they could get minimise the ridiculous gap in departures from Leeds from 1555-1635 I can't see there being a problem

To my mind, they'd be better using the Mainline B7RLE's to replace the oldest B10's.
The 760 definitely needs to be double deck, ideally they'd use ex-Coastliner deckers to get the smoky Presidents on to schools.
If there is brand new buses coming, then maybe more Versa's to upgrade the 62?

If there is brand new buses coming, then maybe more Versa's to upgrade the 62? Is that really much of an "upgrade"? I haven't ridden one of the new Versas, but the B7RLEs seem absolutely fine to me, they're good buses and only just coming up to 9 years old. Versas I've used in the past haven't felt like such high quality interurban vehicles, I don't know if the new ones are much better. Rather than new Versas for the 62 and cascading the B7RLEs (to where?), why not just buy the Versas for that other route, wherever it is?

I agree the B7RLE's are fine, however, the 62 also frequently sees 16 year old B10BLE's which are not so fine.

There will be lots of B7RLEs coming free when the Mainline is upgraded which should make great inroads into the withdrawal of the B10BLE fleet across the group

Ah, I see - I think I've only ever seen B7s on that route, but that may be because I'm mostly there on Sundays when I guess the B7s aren't in such high demand across the rest of the network - yes, the B10s have had their day on main interurban routes, a shame because they were great buses in their time, but a little tired now.

There is two possibilities one is the 58reg mainline buses are going onto the 760 with a increased frequency of every 20mins or the 11/62plate coastliner b9s will be gettin transferred to keighley.. If new b5s arrive... Zero chance of new dd buses for keighley..probably buses like 401/402/404 will prob take out some b10s maybe even 439/440 as well

Of those options, I think the latter would be better. The 760 is a lengthy route and more comfortable (and less smoky) double deckers would be great. Maybe with a rebranding at the same time.
As for the Mainline B7's, using older B7's in place of B10's on routes such as K9 and K10 and the ex-Mainline ones on longer routes such as the 62 or the 696/697 would be an idea.

I would guess some of the Mainline B7RLEs might end up at Harrogate for the 770/771 and at Blackburn for the 22/24, any remainder probably ending up at Keighley

Harrogate are still using some B10BLEs on Route 1 workings so there seems to a need for further refurbed B7s.

Fleet News in the latest issue of Buses may have let the cat out of the bag stating that 30 buses are on order for the Mainline network. These will be...Optare Versa's.

They announced the order for 30 buses but only said they'd be built in the north of England.

From K&D Bigger buses are on their way to Bronte Bus, with more seats and more space with free wifi and USB power at every seat. We're also changing the route numbers to B1 (Stanbury), B2 (Oakworth) and B3 (Hebden Bridge). No changes to times, still 7 days a week up to every 20 mins between Keighley and Haworth. Starts 21 May.

In regards to the bigger buses part, It's basically already happened when the Streetlites were transferred to Burnley
