Was on National Express from London Victoria to Leeds last night and was thinking how the driver's shifts work? The first drive went from London to Woodall services and then changed over. What does that driver do then?
+they were all Geordies so how do they get back up to why aye land?

Believe that the London & South West duties are interworked, so that a driver who has come from London could have a break, and then relieve a driver who has come from Plymouth.

I travel up on the Sunday night overnight service and the driver changeover takes place somewhere just inside Yorkshire at a roadside coach stop. Last time, the driver being relieved had her car parked opposite the coach stop. Can't work out where the changeover takes place but it's definitely late on in the journey. Going up at the end of the month. It's the only way I can get to Leeds in time to surprise my grandson by taking him to school.

Those based on Yorkshire, such as BL Travel & Stotts (who mainly tend to work the Friday & Sunday extras) do needs to change drivers as they are unable to work the full duty within driving hours, so BL change over at Woolley Edge, and would guess Stotts would change somewhere around Sheffield, so they can return via Stocksbridge Bypass to Huddersfield.

Slightly off topic but do Your Bus still run National Express journeys between London and Leeds? Hoping not as last time I used Nat Ex between London and Leeds, for a start it ran 1 hour late then when the driver got to a service station somewhere in the North Midlands expecting his change over driver that had been pre arranged back in London, he was told rather abruptly by his boss to carry on driving to the next services as that is where his relief driver was, despite the fact his driving hours were up!

No. Yourbus have lost all their National Express contracts following rather a lot of problems with driving hours. A number of drivers and managers have been found guilty of various driving hours offences. www.route-one.net/articles/YourBus_and_National_Express_part

Enjoyed my latest Sunday overnight London-Leeds. Best part was the driver apparently knowing only one way in and out of Leeds which involved passing Corn Exchange. Got a drop there (very handy) rather than having to walk back from the Bus & Coach station for my bus to Belle Isle Circus.
