How long before bus timetables get axed? Now fair enough, train operator timetables aren't that bad but it's much easier to look for a big named or colour coded timetable than to have to trawl through a load of same colour same style timetables.

And I've just noticed something else, you have to trawl through up to 4 timetables if you want to know all times for services to places like Huddersfield! For crying out loud how's that going to encourage people out of cars, more like back in them. Sick to God dam death of this austerity crap, time to rattle some cages me thinks!

Look on the National Rail Enquiries website instead!

Unless I am wrong Metro have little or no input into the running and timetables of trains operating in and through West Yorkshire. I believe it is "consulted" when new franchises are offered. It would appear that the only way Metro could have complete control of services in West Yorkshire would be "when and if the good people of the area vote to have a Mayor for West Yorkshire" but that is another story. If the TOC is obliged to produce timetables under the franchise award then perhaps Metro have decided "no more timetables". The Metro timetables were good and for those without a PC/iPad etc to access the National Rail timetable site it will be a pain but at least the site allows those with such devices to see all services between two locations rather than have to get several timetables from different TOCS who operate over the same route

The Northern timetables that replace the coloured Metro ones still have the old metro line names (at least for the time been) I think they made need some tweaks over time

I guess there is a much lower demand for paper timetables these days. Can't remember the time I last picked one up as I either use an app or the pdf.
Perhaps TfN will apply branding across timetables in the future. Who knows.

We really are going backwards! The Metro colour coded named routes have been around for decades and add legibility to a complex network. Imagine the tube in London all in one colour and no line names! Instead of the Piccadilly Line you had "Trains towards Cockfosters"! The lunatics have taken over the asylum here.

I was at Keighley yesterday. All the Metro timetable shots were empty. There were no Northern timetables out. The only timetable on display was an out of date Cross Country one.

I was at Keighley yesterday. All the Metro timetable shots were empty. There were no Northern timetables out. The only timetable on display was an out of date Cross Country one. Just down the line they had all the relevant timetables available at Bradford Forster Square, of course they don't fit in the racks properly but they were still there.

Just tried to pick up a "Harrogate Line" timetable at Leeds Travel Centre! Two racks full of identical timetables all the same colour, eventually found, "Line 29" as it is now known. The staff struggle putting them on display let alone the passengers. Another example of backwards thinking.

Northern have confirmed to me today on twitter that they don't plan to stock any timetables for their routes that don't call there at Keighley and I should pick up any others I need from Leeds or Bradford. Since the last change they've sptocked the two Northern booklets, Virgin East Coast and Cross Country.
