Sorry folks, I posted my reply to the original question yesterday before I finished typing it!
It should have gone on to say that 61098 caught fire whilst on the 91 at Bramley Shopping Centre. The fire started in the engine compartment and the bus was damaged beyond repair.

Think it was about the end of April/early May.
Some Striders are reported to be coming off but it won't be in the near future. Not with the present vehicle shortage, Scania deckers and J reg Olympians still required to maintain the service, particularly on 44 and 49. This has not gone unnoticed by the regulars, especially the elderly who will sometimes greet you with something on the lines of "by, this is an' ol' bu**ar you've got, where's all new 'uns?"
There was also a readers letter in the Evening Post complaining about the motley selection of buses on the 49. Don't know what they mean, 31097's a cracking bus!

has anyone seen "the beast" lately?
yep couldnt agree more, but things haven't settled down with new garage and depot allocations messing route allocs up. but this should have been sorted before the change around. some of the striders are showing their age abit either first needs to invest in them (not worth it) or its time to move on and get more of their new single deckers here asap!!

Yeah, it was reported months ago the olympians days were numbered and they would be painted white prior to disposal but saw one outside Jimmy's the other day repainted in Barbie livery, so presumably the vehicle shortage explains that.

In fairness, most of the 49 route both east and west of Leeds is shared by other low-floor services, so if First absolutely has to send out oldies then the 49 is probably the best bet - rather than, say, the 16 which runs pretty much solo west of Leeds. And although First has done the right thing in not including it on the 'low floor list' on its website, there are a number of services that it could have included but hasn't: 64/68, 74, 98/99/X98 spring to mind. It's not just Overground services that people use! (And also the 72/508/X6 - as far as Joe Public is concerned, these are still First services in Leeds so there is no excuse for not including them on the website...)

Well Bradford, Yorkshire West and Leeds don't seem to take into account each others services in their area as the websites and maps are concerned.
Like I have said elsewhere, the Bradford website and network maps fail to mention the 576 on Overground maps. They could add a footnote to the fact that FirstCard can't be used on this service.

WELL er the first card can't be used as such but the associated ticket can. there's the odd driver on 571 who'll deny all knowledge. btw the metro bus rover issued on buses looks like a bus ticket but is valid on all buses as is the family day rover issued on trains which looks like a train ticket.
