Which services in Huddersfield or anywhere else were operated by Goldrider buses.
I used to travel them regularly for the comfort of the 'executive' seats.
I remember in Huddersfield 1987/88 (as I have photos of 1408, 1605, 1656 and 5515) they used to operate:
365 Oldham/Manchester X6 Leeds X37 Halifax X39 Penistone/Sheffield
But I am sure they were also on other routes.
I seem to remember them out on Saturday evenings regularly on less 'executive' routes around the 'estates' of Huddersfield on 358 Lowerhouses estate and 387 Walpole estate.
I also remember them regularly on more rural Sunday routes 303 Scapegoat Hill, 335 Meltham to Hard End, 336/8 Slaithwaite/Meltham, 341 Stocksmoor and 388/9 Wilberlee.

Last post should say 1615 rather than 1605, sorry! Like today they probably put whatever they got whereever on certain days, disregarding what type it said on running board. I do remember a National on once, but on Stanningley Bypass we finally came to a halt with a burning smell (probably thrashed it too much) and they replaced it with a MCW Metrobus from Bramley (I guess because it came in about 20 mins). Very slow journey back I remember especially up Manchester Road out of Bradford and Bradford Road out of Brighouse 'the hills'. When I got back to Hudds a Goldrider coach was on 361 Balmoral Avenue.

In sunny Halifax, 5509/16 tended to be used on the 508 when not on private hires. Don't forget that Halifax was the 'West Divisions Private Hire depot' at that time. This also meant that the Tigers 1663 and 1661? occasionally appeared on hires when large scale hires happened, they tended to live on the Rochdale or Midgeley-Booth/Blackshaw Head/Old Town sets of routes, sometimes also making it on to the 237 Sheffield service.

The X33 Bradford Sheffield also used to have a Gold Rider bus on the Yorkshire Rider turns.

The X33 Bradford Sheffield also used to have a Gold Rider bus on the Yorkshire Rider turns. I remember seeing an Arriva Spectra on that route in Sheffield in 2003. I have the feeling this route may have had various operators including also Yorkshire Traction.

At one point the X33 was jointly operated by Tracky and YR. Can't remember whether West Riding also shared duties or if they took over when Rider pulled out.
Rider certainly used Alexander bodied Olympians, while Tracky used the East Lancs bodied B10M double deckers.

Arriva acquired Spectras 718-723 specifically for the X33, at that time it was worked by Heckmondwike depot

Prior to using the B10's Tracty used Metrobuses 701-704 and West Riding had TL11 powered Olympians 613-617 on the White Rose Motorway services. Go back to its origins and you would also have found Alexander bodied AEC Reliances from Hebble, with Alexander Leopards from Sheffield and Yorkshire Traction and Plaxton bodied Lepoards from West Riding

Rider certainly used Alexander bodied Olympians, while Tracky used the East Lancs bodied B10M double deckers. When X33 started operating via Cleckheaton and Heckmondwike around 1982 (or maybe 81 or 83), there were four operators running, WYPTE Bradford/Rider, Yorkshire, Yorkshire Traction, West Riding. They all ran vehicles in the same livery of different shades of blue, with a White Rose logo, before dereg in 1986, then each vehicle were ran in their new owners colours, of the time. Yorkshire started the first one to Sheffield from Heckmondwike, around 0620 first one from Bradford was WYPTE, at 0700, West Riding would start theirs from Wakefield to Bradford around 0700 to do 0800 Sheffield, and Tracky started Barnsley arriving Bradford around 0840ish, to do 0900 Sheffield. Then over the years, WYPTE/Rider came off to be replaced by West Riding, thereby 2 x WR, 1 each Tracky and Yorkshire, WR taking over the Yorkshire one, but, WR/Yorkshire had 1 bus on the other route X32 to Leeds, which had 2 Tracky vehicles on it, so, West Riding & Tracky swapped their respective vehicles over, so, that X32 was all Tracky, and X33 were all West Riding. Around 1999, the X33 moved back to Heckmondwike and ran with the L reg Volvo Wright Renown in the West Riding Green Tick livery, 406-409 (other members may know the exact fleetnumbers), which then in 2000, gained the W reg Volvo Renowns 102-4, 106-9, in Arriva colours with CATS branding (City And Town Shopping), a dupe ran from Bradford at 1000 to Wakefield on Saturdays, before they then put 687/8 (these 2 were unbranded Volvo Presidents off 268) onto it on Saturdays to run decker all way to Sheffield, then August 2002 - January 2007, 718 - 723 were purchased to run X33.

A slight bit to add is that the YTC only had 1 board on the X32 and then after swapping with West Riding only had 2.
The third board was Northern Bus which then I think ended up with Mainline for a short time and then passed to First Leeds who ran it for a while before Yorkshire Traction took over and had all 3 duties.

Prior to Northern Bus operating the X32 it had been operated by Mainline one of the three (East Bank Dominators odd Metrobus) and Yorkshire Traction the other two out of Upper Sheffield Rd.
Back to day one the two Leeds Sheffield services X31 M1 direct and X32 via Barnsley inter worked with the X33 and X34.
One final piece was the X36 from Mexborough to Leeds via Rotherham and Barnsley operated initially by of Yorkshire Traction Leopards out of Rawmarsh. When this was cut back to Rotherham Leeds it was operated by SYTPE Rotherham initially with two single deck Fleetlines before a couple of AEC Swifts were transferred from Sheffield

Didn't SUT do the X32 for a while with double deck Neoplan coaches? I seem to remember them stopping at Wolley edge services as part of the route.
