Transdev have started to publish details of the changes to Unibus from next month. The holiday timetable is published, but they are just giving info about the term-time times at the moment.
Buses will run from the university (Heslington East interchange) every 15 minutes during the daytime, 7 days a week, increasing to at least every 10 minutes during term time (probably Monday to Saturday only), and every 30 minutes in the evenings.
One bus every 30 minutes will be extended to Acomb via Holly Bank (0800–1800 weekdays, 0900–1700 Saturdays), which gives a considerably better service to Holly Bank than it has now both in terms of frequency and hours of operation, as well as providing a faster service between Acomb and the university than even the current 4, let alone the re-routed service. All other buses will continue to run to Nunnery Lane as now.
During term-time, they are also promising an hourly service right through the night, 7 days a week, which is an exciting new development.

If this can be sustained, then perhaps a good example of a 'bus war'/competition delivering innovation and improvements

First 24/7 bus service launched in York Nice headline for a Transdev service....................... www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/13523163.First_24_7_bus_service_launched_in_York/?ref=fbshrYORK'S first 24/7 bus service will be launched in the autumn, when a service will run through the night between the city centre and the University of York. Transdev says its ground-breaking service, which will start in the university's Freshers Week without public subsidy, had been devised after the company listened to the needs of its university passengers.

I see that the ducks have now left the yellow Unibuses and set up their home on the PINK, there's just a slightly cleaner duck-shaped hole in the livery on Transdev's buses.

The unibus Twitter account shows that they aren't messing about with their PR campaign now the students are back.
Free travel, 2 free journey cards, offers at pubs and clubs, refurbished buses with super fast wifi, usb charging points, free unibus branded merchandise etc.
Plus a City Sightseeing bus was specially branded Unibus recently to give students a free tour of the city.
The only downside I can see is that they are using single decks.
Maybe some of the old '36' buses could move onto the Unibus once the new buses arrive?
I'm guessing First's buses haven't been refurbished and still have tired interiors from years of a hard life in Bradford?

Transdev are alsovery publicly making complaints about being victimised and sidelined in preference to First - totally unjustified IMO, given that they enjoyed exactly the same privileges at First's expense for the 5 years that they had the contract.

First are offering a year of travel for just £99, half the price of Transdev. How they are making any money at what works out at about 33p per trip, I don't know.

They aren't – it's a loss leader solely aimed at driving Transdev off the route and then they'll rack the prices back up again. It's like when they ran the X64 between York and Leeds – both First and Coastliner were offering unsustainably low fares in the hope that the other one would back off.

Disappointing to see that, hidden behind the huge fanfare about cheaper fares that has been deluging through Twitter, Transdev have sneaked in a significant without, as far as I can see, any announcement whatsoever. The enhanced term-time service, with increased frequency and buses running through the night, doesn't apply in the summer term, so the 44 is effectively running a holiday timetable from now until the end of September.
