Yorkshire Tiger have announced major improvements to service 757 from 8th March
Evenings increased from hourly to every 30 mins
Sundays increased from every 30 mins to every 20 mins
A new hourly overnight service introduced
There will also be a revised timetable on services 737/747 to improve reliability.
Those Versas are going to be worked hard!
If the Leeds depot is going to be open all night I wonder if a night service on the 93 might follow?

Very impressive service provision to be found on the 757 from next month. In summary, with approximate times:
MONDAY TO FRIDAY Buses from Leeds City Centre to Airport 01:30 - 03:30 - every hour 03:30 - 04:30 - every 30 mins 04:30 - 17:30 - every 20 mins (reduced to every 30 mins 0700-0800 approx) 17:30 - 01:30 following day - every 30 mins
From Airport to City Centre 02:00 - 06:00 - every hour 06:00 - 09:00 - every 30 mins 09:00 - 17:30 - every 20 mins 17:30 - 02:00 following day - every 30 mins (with extra buses up to every 15 mins between 22:00 and 00:30)
SUNDAY Buses from Leeds City Centre to Airport 01:30 - 03:30 - every hour 03:30 - 10:30 - every 30 mins 10:30 - 17:30 - every 20 mins 17:30 - 01:30 following day - every 30 mins
From Airport to City Centre 02:00 - 07:00 - every hour 07:00 - 11:30 - every 30 mins 11:30 - 18:30 - every 20 mins 18:30 - 02:00 following day - every 30 mins (with extra buses up to every 15 mins between 22:00 and 00:30)
SATURDAY times not yet available on Metro Journey Planner but clearly will follow the same approximate pattern.
Does anyone know if LBIA are helping to fund this expansion or is it purely commercial?

ENCTS only covers 0930-2300 (or is it 2330?) on weekdays, so not accepting it on night buses is normal practice - but as there is no morning peak time limit at weekends, does that mean they will accept passes from 0001 on Saturday to 2359 on Sunday? Or is there an overnight cut-off on weekends in the rules of the game?

The end of service is a "Metro" benefit as ENCTS passes should only be valid until 2300. The overnight services are a special, such as Leeds Utd or Rhinos buses, and as such the passes are not valid for travel. Hopefully it is the start of a half decent night bus network in Leeds.

It will be £3.60 I think, which is the standard single fare from airport So apart from not allowing passes, they're not charging a premium for the night services? Yes and no. No, if you're travelling from Leeds to the Airport. Yes, if you're only going as far as, say, Kirkstall. It's a bit shame that they're going down the premium pricing route for the night buses. I can understand not accepting ENCTS and at a push even the Metrocard. It's a shame though that Tiger's own daily/weekly tickets can't be valid, giving customers a good extra reason to choose those over a First ticket. Personally I would like to see night buses operating with the standard daytime fare structure, so as to encourage travel at these times. But I am aware that night bus operation is expensive and I can see why operators would be reluctant to take a higher revenue risk than they may be comfortable with. Anyway, Tiger must be applauded for this initiative. First really ought to be looking at more of a night network in Leeds than just the Headingley corridor, but then again First have just hugely scaled back the Manchester night buses so I don't think it's really on the cards. Maybe if Tiger are successful it might give them a nudge though, especially if Tiger decided to test the 93 for night operation too.

I think it's a good idea for Tiger to have a flat night fare. Even for a short journey to Kirkstall, it's still gonna be cheaper than a taxi if your on your own.
And who knows, if it proves successful, then they may revert to the usual fares further down the line.

The ENCTS is not valid during the morning peak hours but can be used from 0930 to 2300. WYMetro extend the use to the last bus. The problem maybe "what time is the last bus". I assume the easier option is to stop the use at a specific time and save an argument between driver and pass holders.

Another thought:-I have never used a bus in the early hours but can I use my ENCTS card on a night bus

will start my last post again as a chunk got missed off. If a night bus route starts prior to 2300 and the ENCTS Is extended to the last bus can I use my card on that route in the early hours.

Info sent to me by email:
Service 757 goes 24 hour From Sunday 08 March 2015, service 757 will go to a 24 hour operation with the introduction of an hourly overnight service between the Airport and Leeds Rail Station. In addition, following customer feedback, a revised timetable will also be introduced to improve reliability and punctuality especially during the Monday to Friday peak periods, which will see the service reduced to operate every 30 minutes. The Evening services will now operate every 30 minutes whilst the Sunday daytime service will now operate every 20 minutes. Tickets and passes on 757 journeys between 0000 and 0500 Between 0000 and 0500 Senior & Disabled ENCTS concessions, MCards (all types), MetroCards (all types), MetroDay, all West Yorkshire DayRovers, the Kirkstall Road any operator ticket scheme between Leeds and Kirkstall, and First ticket bolt-on schemes are not valid on any journey and a flat fare will be in operation from all points. The journeys affected are shown below and operate daily: From Leeds Railway Station:
Leeds Railway Station 0004 0034 0104 0134 0234 0334 0404 0430* Kirkstall Fire Station 0008 0038 0108 0138 0238 0338 0408 0434 Kirkstall Bridge Road 0012 0042 0112 0142 0242 0342 0412 0438 Horsforth The Fleece 0018 0048 0118 0148 0248 0348 0418 0444 Rawdon Cross Roads 0022 0052 0122 0152 0252 0352 0422 0448 Leeds Bradford Airport 0028 0058 0128 0158 0258 0358 0428 0454
* - Runs 4 minutes later on Sundays
From Leeds Bradford Airport:
Leeds Bradford Airport 0005 0020 0035 0105 0135 0205 0305 0405 Rawdon Cross Roads 0010 0025 0040 0110 0140 0210 0310 0410 Horsforth The Fleece 0014 0029 0044 0114 0144 0214 0314 0414 Kirkstall Bridge Road 0021 0036 0051 0121 0151 0221 0321 0421 Kirkstall Fire Station 0026 0041 0056 0126 0156 0226 0326 0426 Leeds Railway Station 0030 0045 0100 0130 0200 0230 0330 0430 The flat fare on above journeys will be £3.60 single / £6.00 return for all journeys; however for children/U18s in possession of the relevant Metro pass it will be £1.80 single / £3.00 return. Customers already holding return tickets to/from LBIA will not be charged further. Yorkshire Tiger’s own ticket can be used at any time with no extra charge, however: TigerDay tickets are only valid until 2359 that day; so if bought at 0400 it is valid until 2359 that day. Tickets bought the preceding day cannot be used on the following overnight service. E.g. a TigerDay bought on Friday cannot be used on the Saturday AM overnight service. TigerWeek tickets can be used up to 2359 on the day of expiry, even on the overnight service. Services 737 and 747 Also from the same day, following customer feedback, a revised timetable will be introduced on these services to improve reliability and punctuality especially during the Monday to Friday peak periods – there is no changes to the routes.

following the previous change, the 737 & 747 run from Bradford fairly late but the last bus from Airport to Bradford (747) is not as late as in previous years... (the last journey used to return to Bradford)

The 757 will have a reduced overnt service during the winter airport timetable. It's a shame, it can be quite busy with late night revellers, much cheaper than a taxi and there's WI-FI on't bus

Due to the fact that there are hardly any overnight flights into Leeds/Bradford Airport over the Winter timetable period (November to March) Yorkshire Tiger has decided to suspend the overnight @flyingtiger 757 journeys.
So as from Sunday, October 27th the first journey to the airport will depart Leeds Rail Station at 04:04 arriving at the Airport for 04:34 whilst the last journey into Leeds will depart the Airport at 00:35 arriving Leeds City Square at 01:00.
