What a brilliant idea, I hope it's a success, then hopefully they'll consider making it permanent.

There are fare cuts for Leeds and Bradford, such as the FirstDay Leeds ticket available at peak-times at £3.90, along with the FirstWeek Leeds or Bradford ticket at £14, a FirstMonth Leeds or Bradford ticket at £52 and FirstAnnual Leeds or Bradford ticket at £520. However, some fares have been increased, such as the FirstWeek GreenZone, which is effectively scrapped and replaced by FirstWeek Leeds, while the FirstDay ticket in Bradford is increased from £3.70 to £3.90. www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/leeds/travel_news/news_initiatives/?item=14911&conf=0

Fine for Leeds and Bradford passengers, What about Huddersfield and Halifax passengers?. Those areas have had other offers such as £10 weekly tickets. Frankly, it's about time Leeds was offered better value tickets. 15% cut in peak daily tickets, 28% cut to weekly tickets and 20% monthly and annual tickets. Pretty good savings, and finally some kind of offer (2 for £5) to encourage post evening peak usage. (Since Metro pulled the funding for late evening runs on key services I would have thought increasing the usage of them with fare cuts/offers would be a priority). I'm cynical enough to know that these cuts will look good to Metro who would still like to push Quality Contracts at any cost, though as they are even more resolute about forcing NGT upon us I think QCs have fallen slightly by the wayside, for now.

It`s about time First cut its fares in Leeds.Far from having NGT forced on us by Metro, many of us in Headingley are looking forward to the trolleybuses actually coming. Contrary to the myth spread by the "anti -NGT" lobby, trolleybuses were the chosen transport type during the 2008 consultation.
