What is Yorkshire buses? Are they 'real' Yorkshire Buses was the name of the north kirklees services prior to arriva and part of YWD naming under the original YWD clauses set by the local town councils when YWD started bus operations back in 1903, the clause stated that the company couldnt be renamed until after about 99 yearams hence Dewsbury & hecky became part of arriva in the late 90's. You mean Arriva, the company that didn't exist until 1997 then! One of the first repaints into Arriva Livery was an ALX200 Dart at Dewsbury.

No, Yorkshire Buses was an agreed name for the bus operations ran by YWD in 1903 its in a local history book. It even states YWD set up a bus to link Batley, Dewsbury, Staincliffe and Pinderfields & Stanley royd hospitals on the orders from the earl of wilton and part of the history of arriva yorkshire that isnt acknowledged is that Batley was the founding depot and area of YWD. You're missing the point though. YWD couldn't be renamed Arriva until the late 90s, as Arriva didn't exist until the late 90s.

Or something similar.

Well sorry for asking which bus launched the Arriva brand in Yorkshire. Which is technically the history of the firm.

The first buses I know were delivered in Arriva were R...GMJ Darts at Garston (Watford) R...TKO Varios in Kent R...YJC Varios in Wales

If I recall rightly our R reg Varios arrived in West Riding livery, but were quickly repainted into Arriva, so must have arrived just slightly too soon.
440 was the launch vehicle for Arriva Yorkshire. I may dig out my old copies of Metro Transport News to see what the first repaints were

I remember seeing the livery applied to one of the X33 Volvo B10 (406-409) in late 1997. I am not sure whether these were the first to be repainted.

Anyone know if the Darwen Olympus are getting a repaint once they've had branding removed or are they still in good condition?

Anyone know if the Darwen Olympus are getting a repaint once they've had branding removed or are they still in good condition? Arriva still have some much older in the old style livery Commanders 1400-1408 and Spectras 708 and 713. Plus only some of the Eclipses have been treated to a full repaint (1100, 1101, 1102, 1105, 1107, 1108 and 1111.)

This only shows passenger door side, I did say the drivers side was blank, pretty sure it was 1482, but I'll stand corrected if I'm wrong

Dewsbury enviro 200, 1060 has been fully repainted , saw ot on the 278 tonight Anyone able to confirm that the seats have also been re-trimmed into the current Blue based Moquette rather then the rather insipid Aquamarine based one which the rest of the batch and the Tempos at Castleford are blessed with
