Following discussions between Arriva Yorkshire and Huddersfield Town Supporters Association, Arriva have now introduced a new stopping point on its diverted 202/203, 220 and 229 services on match days at Huddersfield's John Smith's Stadium. These services have been following a diversion route via Deighton Road, Fartown Bar and Bradford Road from an hour before kick-off until around 30 mins after the final whistle, due to congestion around the stadium area. As of immediate effect, buses will now stop on Bradford Road at Willow Lane for anybody wishing to go to the game. Fans travelling to the game can also travel on Arriva services 202, 203, 220 and 229 for £1 by showing their match/season ticket. The offer and stopping point will be valid on all Huddersfield Town home matches this season, starting on Saturday (26 October) for the Championship match against Leeds United. It will also be valid for anybody travelling to the stadium for the England-Ireland match in the Rugby League World Cup on 2 November. www.arrivabus.co.uk/Huddersfield-Town.aspx

I don't understand why they've started doing it all of a sudden. I've been a season ticket holder at Town for nigh on 25 years and even lived down Leeds Road and they've never ever have done this in the past. I find the whole decision bizarre. Willow Lane, ok is the closest the bus is going to get to the ground, but it still a fair walk from there, 15 minutes at least. Hardly encouraging people to use public transport is it?

The diversion and special £1 fare when showing a Huddersfield Town match day ticket, is no longer happening this year. So, now it's back to normal route and getting stuck both ways and watch the complaints appear, that bus such and such that should've left Huddersfield at such a time, hasn't appeared. I, for one, if late into Huddersfield to start my final trip, will ring and tell them, I'm running private back via Fartown
