The 53 reg Bluebird was towed away from Waterloo yesterday am, Am i right in thinking a one way trip to the cutting torch?. If that's the case then 10 years is a young age for a low-floor bus. I was just musing why?. It looked intact to me, If it's withdrawal is due to accident damage then i couldn't see any obvious signs. (Admittedly, i didn't see all four sides of the bus). Then i got to thinking, maybe its gone because it's a rare type and parts weren't available. (If) that's the case then You've got to question the sanity of the suit who gave the authorisation to purchase the thing in the first place. My point is, if i wanted to buy a relatively modern car to give me a good few years service, then i certainly wouldn't buy a rarity with an obsolete parts back catalogue.

The first registration post-change from VOSA today: PB1078487/54 - HUDDERSFIELD BUS COMPANY LTD T/A THE HUDDERSFIELD BUS COMPANY, UNIT G10, LOCK VIEW, LOWFIELDS BUSINESS PARK, ELLAND, HX5 9HD Registration Accepted by SN Starting Point: ALMONDBURY ( WESTGATE) Finish Point: KIRKBURTON MIDDLE SCHOOL Via: Service Number: K82 Service Type: Normal Stopping Effective Date: 05-SEP-2013 Other Details: School days only one journey Does anyone know who is actually running the K82? Huddersfield Bus Company ran it until July CT Plus registered it for September, then cancelled it, then First registered it and are apparently running it, but now HBC have registered it again?

Huddersfield Bus Company ran it until July CT Plus registered it for September, then cancelled it, then First registered it and are apparently running it, but now HBC have registered it again? The HBC registration only covers the morning in bound journey and is only valid until half-term (I think, having sent the registrations up to Yorkshire I can't check the confirmed end date but from memory both start date & end date were within the 56-day registration window). I assume the CT Plus registration was erroneous as First won the tender, I presume there is some issue with First being able to cover the morning journey in the short term until some change in the schedules permit it - it will need to be a midi sized vehicles as when HBC sent one of the DAFs over the route early on in the Centrebus control of the operation it took a bit of a battering (I believe it knocked at least one of the wing mirrors off) and it has been B6/Dart SLF/Solo ever since. Perhaps First assumed they could get a bigger bus round and when they found they couldn't, struggled to get a suitable vehicle available for the morning run immediately. This was actually the final registration of the Centrebus era rather than the first of the Arriva as it was submitted on Wednesday 4th Sept to commence Thurs 5th Sept by myself. It just takes a while for VOSA to process and approve short notice registrations.

K-Line, I believe, is back under Arriva ownership once again, having been so previously with the Taylor's takeover some years ago. Then sold to Teamdeck. Am I correct?

My memory is a bit sketchy and it was all a bit complicated. K Line has been around for many years now (started quite soon following deregulation?). Taylors also came along post-dereg in the Leeds area, and sometime (late 1990s?) they merged in some way to form Teamdeck - I don't know if one bought the other out or if the two companies carried on under this new umbrella company. Either way Arriva bought Teamdeck out and eventually got rid of the Taylors side of things (when Arriva and First traded the 223/224 Halifax route for the Leeds competitve Taylors routes?). Meanwhile Yorkshire Traction sold to Stagecoach but of course the Huddersfield network went to Centrebus Holdings. But I can't remember at what point the Arriva owned Teamdeck/K Line operation went to Centrebus - was it at the same time that Yorkshire Traction was disbanded, or earlier?
Can anyone correct me and/or fill in the blanks?

The K-Line company used to be called Ambermile Limited. The same group also used to run Headlight in Barnsley.
K-Line purchased Taylor's of Leeds around 1994.
Arriva purchased both around 2001 but immediately sold the Huddersfield company back to its owners who created Teamdeck Limited and carried on as an independent until Centrebus Holdings purchased them.
Taylor's became Arriva K-Line and they traded for a few years in Leeds until Arriva wound it down.

Thanks, your memory is clearly more superior! So Arriva never really ran K Line, that makes more sense as I couldn't figure out when they sold it. I knew there was another name involved somewhere (Ambermile) but couldn't think what it was!

That is just the standard legal lettering for buses run by Centrebus in Leeds, which is where that bus is usually allocated.

Seen over the last couple of days, removal of "centrebus" from vehicles. Seen these vehicles operating on the 38/92/93/94.
