Its interesting looking at an old map of the South Elmsall area from the late 90s-early 00s, nearly every road in the Sth Elmsall/Sth Kirkby/Upton area was served by these buses and others. Presumably this was operated from Yorkshire Traction's Shafton depot.
A few questions - How many buses were required and was there interworking between these services? Were they withdrawn before Stagecoach took over Tracky and was it due to falling passenger numbers?

Indeed it was Shafton Depots routes: 88 South Elmsall (Broad Lane) - Hemsworth - Pontefract PVR2. 85 Upton - South Elmsall - South Kirkby PVR1. 84 Upton - South Elmsall - South Kirkby PVR1. 80/81 South Elmsall - Misthorpe/Highfields circle and 83 South Elmsall - Broad Lane/Beech St Circle. PVR1 combined. PVR 5 in total.
*Drivers used to change at south elmsall on 80/81/83/84/85, and hemsworth on service 88. (ferry bus provided).
All services stood alone apart from 80/81/83. Believe they ended up being withdrawn due to falling passenger numbers and also inconsiderate parking which was encountered frequently on the 84&85's. Regards Dave.

Also they were withdrawn prior to the Stagecoach takeover, services 248/249 initially covering parts of the routes, My usual route 211 was also withdrawn by Stagecoach following the network review in this area, subsequently leading to BL Travel taking over the 249, M travel taking over the 248 route between Pontefract and ackworth only.
Regards Dave.
