The streetcars certainly would not use the guideways, they were tried on the east Leeds guideway and the vehicle was damaged, the outswing plug doors were broken along with some of the lower panels. The general impression is that Hyperlink has been a success, no moaning in the local press from irate passengers and motorists unlike route 4. Artics do a good job on the right route, like they always did on route 1 and still do.

Whilst we are all playing the rumour based guessing game, I thought I would have my two penworth. It amazed me right from the start of the X6 that it was not made a circular service linking all 4 districts, instead of just the 3. Probably at the time it was an idea to keep 'woollie' sweet as the Hudds to Leeds segment would have stepped on their toes.As for extending the 72 to Huddersfield, come on, wake up smell the coffee. There are all kinds of logistical problems especially if it were still operated by Bramley at one end of the route. Dead mileage for a start would be quite much more than present.

What would the through running time be? Unless the promised engine upgrade goes ahead and works well, it would take the poor old Streetcar 3 hours to drag itself to Huddersfield. Sarcasm aside, I do hope the Streetcars are improved because they are woefully slow at boarding, acceleration and of course turning on bends.
I question how successful Hyperlink has been. I concede that it is perhaps a little less negatively received than on the 4 routes in Leeds and York, but the 72 journey time has increased and most passengers now have to stand uncomfortably. I note during our recent hot spell they have been rather noisier than usual, presumably struggling in the heat, and sights of them being towed whilst their previous Gemini counterparts are left to pick up the pieces are becoming increasingly common.
Is it just me or has the X6 also got a lot busier too, perhaps with those who can migrating to it from the 72. Perhaps any truth in these rumours of the X6 being replaced would not be too favourable amongst the regular passengers.

It,s all rumour and conjecture at the moment. Maybe there has been a feasibility study done about extending Hyperlink 72 to Huddersfield but that would be about it. First, like all other operators will always be looking at ways to increase passenger usage/profitability etc, and that,s possibly how this speculation started. As the 72 Bradford-Leeds and X6 Huddersfield-Leeds and 363/X63 Huddersfield-Bradford already have decent loadings and operate quite profitably, my thought,s are that these routes will continue to operate as they are with no change. I personally think it will be a long time (If ever), there will be bendi-buses serving Huddersfield.

I also think there will be no change - but I can see some thinking in splitting the X6 to improve reliability - maybe let Huddersfield continue with an improved frequency on the X63 (every 10 mins) and possibly Bradford with the X6 running Bradford - Leeds (15 mins frequency). However, this is unlikely to happen if we are to see the planned increased frequency to 6 or 5 minutes in October with the 72.

Cutting the X6 in half is also not going to happen, it would ruin the whole point of the service, loads of passengers travel across Bradford, and it is the fastest way by bus from Huddersfield even though it is so indirect.

How about admitting defeat with the Hyperlink ftr carry on? Get some 12 reg Geminis branded and give it some class. In comparison to the 33A/97 etc it's cattle class. Expensive mistake. Or how about some heritage Routemasters? Then the hosts won't get their cards. Aherm.

I think it needs the Arriva 'Sapphire' treatment or Stagecoach 'Gold'. Still have an X6 express and make the 72 every 8 minutes using new 63 reg hybrid double deckers.

The fares didn't rise on the 33/33A and 97 or any of the the other routes the 98 ex Olympic Geminis operate. Can't see your logic Kendall 17. Anyway if the hosts go the fares should come down! FWY fares are dear anyway and I pay full fare. Looking forward to the MCard Oyster thingy.

New buses would be replacing 6 year old, extremely expensive to buy artics. Now get my logic?

Guess so. They're stuck with the ftr so somebody gotta have them. The 4s in York and Leeds endured them now it's the 72s turn. They're a novelty if nowt else
