Reading the thread about 5211's exploits on the 15 the other night made me think; I wonder why they never changed the timetables when Bradford took over the running of these routes from Leeds. The last two 15's from Leeds only go to Farsley (then empty to Bradford depot) and the last 72 from Bradford goes to Bramley Town End. Both are remnants of Bramley depot's involvement in these routes.

The 15 service was actually run out of Kirkstall for quite a long time, except Mon->Fri evenings when there was 1 bus from Kirkstall (Late turn rota & a guarenteed MCW) and 1 from Bramley

Doesn't the red line 508 do the same finish in Stanningley or somewhere round there.

I see your point, but if they were to change it, it would mean running the last two 15s into Bradford centre and then back out to the depot (without subsidy). Also with the 72, would you suggest either cutting the last trip to Bramley (not good to cut back the last bus on a busy route) or extend it all the way to Leeds, meaning the bus has to travel all the way back anyway?

Yes, true, it would be a shame to cut the last 72. I'm never a fan though of buses running empty to the depot (particularly in the case of Bradford where the depot is so close to town.) Even without subsidy there may be a few passengers to offset the cost of diesel running past the stops. Mind you, I'm not in the industry so there may be more to it than that, such as drivers working times, etc.
PS - That 508 to Dudley Hill (Cross Keys) is Sat only. On Christmas and New Years Eves they run one to Stanningley, but then pick up going back to Halifax, even though it virtually follows the one through from Leeds (3 cheers for that!)

On a similar note with last buses following each other (though probably at risk of going off topic!) does anyone know if the last 963 service from Otley actually runs as a duplicate as far as Shipley? For a while now I've noticed that there seems to be two journeys at 2332 hours, presumably instead of having a bus run light, but still it seems odd for two drivers to have to follow each other on not exactly the busiest service at such a late hour!

YES I have seen this dupe while waiting at the stop before Shipley, for the Bradford service.

You would be amazed at how many people actually use that 23.32 back to Bradford after a night in the town's pubs and the usual Solo can get full before it leaves Otley, at least on a Fri & Sat. Never any trouble though, Otley attracts the more discerning drinker!
