What's everyone's most favourite route? Mine has to be the old 380/381 when run by Kingfisher. Some of the best ever buses allocated to that route and I've missed it sorely since the 549 took it over a few years back.
So, what's yours and why?

231, I just like the route very much. A good run through netherton up the hill. A bit of country road outside of midgley. Then a lot of sharp turns through grange moor, then a straight road downhill to lepton! And then the final run towards huddersfield

189/410 - Leeds to Castleford/Pontefract... Normally a good bus and plenty of thrash 392 - Walsden to Halifax... Brilliant Bus, 1 trip a day and plenty of thrash along parts of the route 528 - Halifax to Rochdale... Not a bad bus & Plenty of thrash X80 - Halifax to White Rose... Normally a B10 which arent bad but still plenty of thrash
I like my thrashy routes that have good buses running on them.

576 Bradford to Halifax: Once out of Great Horton good views of Thornton from Clayton Heights and Sandbeds. From Catherine Slack to Boothtown another good view of this time Halifax and most of it subrbs mainly Illingworth. Going in the Opposite direction at the top of Horton Bank you can see as far as Yeadon and Ilkley Moor

long distance routes are the winners for favourites, but do miss the previous allocation of buses on the routes, examples include Coastliners and The Royales, 36 and the B10B/B10BLE wrights. X84 and the scania N113 deckers.

Mine is the 231/232 because nearly always get different good buses and you can get some thrash on these routes

Favourite old route was the 562 between Halifax and Oldham. Very scenic route, particularly when crossing the Pennines. Just a shame that the passengers numbers dropped on the cross-county and within Greater Manchester sections of the routes.
Also liked the M62 from Halifax to Leeds, as a fast way to Leeds from Halifax and also from Huddersfield (changing from X6 at Brighouse) with both taking about an hour. Was also good as the 562 and M62 both had a 5 minute connection between the two at Halifax, which meant you could travel between Oldham and Leeds in approx. 2 hours, all under one ticket (FirstDay Manchester, which would have been about £3-£3.50 at the time).

In the Yorkshire Rider era this service ran to Newsome/Taylor Hill from Hudds bus stn. And im sure that Kingfisher continued this. Isnt the 549 a Halifax run service?. I do know that the original 380/1 services to Newsome were withdrawn by First to be replaced by the 306 Blagden Farm/Newsome services. And 380 was the route number given to a Hudds to Brighouse minibus service which to the best of my limited knowledge is currently operated by Stotts. Ive probably missed something here, So can you explain the connection between the 380/1 and 549 which you refer to, Cheers

The 384 is the minibus service between Huddersfield and Brighouse via Asda, which is operated by Stotts, along with the 385 to Fartown.

The 384 is a long established route which has run since the mid 80s minibus era. (although at some stages there used to be a 386 as well)

One of my favourites is the perhaps little known 517 twice on a Saturdays run from Halifax - Burnley via Heptonstall & Blackshawhead. The climb up direct through Heptonstall village is an experience in itself before it climbs up to Blackshawhead and then to nearly 1400 feet to cross over the moors above Tod. This long established service (nearly 40 years) without any major change is well worth a ride.

Same here, only downside is the bus they use... the last time we went on it was Marshall Dart 41255 and on one of the hills on the route it barely hit 1mph in 1st gear and virtually came to a standstill.

The M1 when lances and the Plaxton Derwent B10M's used to run on it, some happy memories of storming along the motorway!

Actually, the route goes back even further than that, as it is now the remnant of what was Hebble's service 15 from Leeds to Burnley, which I think was started in the 1920s!! I remember several childhood journeys back over Blackstone Edge Moors on a foggy night, for, surprisingly enough, not only was this route through to Leeds, but there used to be an hourly service! I think Hebble would have preferred to go via Todmorden but were refused permission, so had to make the best of this very difficult route over the moors. If I may be allowed to share my favourite journey - it is Transdev's 500 between Keighley and Hebden Bridge, passing through splendid Bronte Country and the moors over Peckett Well, with a glimpse of the KWVR at Haworth, and being amazed at the skill of the drivers in manouevering such long buses round tight turnings in Oxenhope and Hebden Bridge itself!

My favourite bus route would have to be, First Calderline's 590 - 2 - 4 gets a good thrashing along the a646. Good memouries as a child onboard Leyland/Volvo Olympians sat on the top deck going to and from Todmorden From Halifax, sat the front at tea time when it was dark I remember being able to see the destination sign through the pannel gap . Also 503 when the high vehicle road marking guides on so was very interesting to see wether the driver succesfully negotiate it!

The 590's etc. are my most hated routes in Halifax. Not that keen on the 503 either. I like the 576 and all the routes I drive apart from most of the local ones (28A, 554, 36, 34)
