From £49 is not too bad when u look at the price of the train fares to London excluding the offers they do. Not so bad and better than 2 hrs travelling and 4.5hrs on coach. Will prob appeal more to business people.

Except that it isn't as quick as people may think.
Train Leeds - Kings Cross: Approx 2h 15m Plane: Travel to Airport, arrive at least an hour (probably more) before take off, journey less than an hour, get from plane to airport exit, travel into central London. Total time: More than 2h15.

If you've ever being to the airport time is nothing to them, the biz people have much more flexability then that. Private taxi, check in 45 minutes before departure, fast track, plane, hour, domestic onto a train and into that meeting at 850 in Canary wharf. Of course people like that will use this service for the 11 onwards meetings. Also BA are not just connecting Yorkshire with London but the large long haul network they have out of LHR and going head to head with KLM.
Lbaspotter, the last LHR service didn't fail, the company that ran it failed in the direction they really wanted to take. The BMI service carried about 170,000 a year, most of those people from Yorkshire heading to London for day meetings. I already know a few people who will use this service twice a week.

According to today's Independent travel supplement, if you know what date you have a meeting in London, it could be cheaper to fly than go by train. There will be some restricted air fares but no restricted rail fares in the peak hours.
