Well, to reiterate, we have the oldest fleet of DMUs, and other fleets with newer DMUs have got brand new DMUs before we have even had a look in. We are blessed with second hand 150s instead. I've a feeling the Valley Lines will see new trains before we do, just because we love the pacers up North. We will probably be sent the 143s if they get new trains before 2019 - what a shudder-inducing thought! The valley lines are due to be electrified, not sure what stock they will get but it will probably be brand new as most 2nd hand cascades (class 319s) are for North & Thames valley.

I've heard the Pacers are go with DDA Compliancy in 2015...but if someone can shade on this? No rail no longer has DDA it is something else (can't remember what) but it comes in in 2019. Chiltern's Mk3 refurbs were partly to meet the new standard whilst all 156s are meant to be upgraded starting this year to meet it. Pacers should be going but they too can always be upgraded!

Pacers cannot be upgraded to meet the regulations. The fitment of an accessible loo would not only be deemed uneconomic but there would also be the issue of the amount of space taken up.
These units will have to be replaced sooner or later.

Been a quite a few years since i've seen a Class 56 working in Knottingley, but Fastlines 56301 has just gone through Eastbound towards Goole hauling a rake of coal trucks. Blast from the past.

Just seen GWR Piarie tank 4160 on the back of a low-loader on the A6177 at Southfield Lane heading towards M606, a few months the KWVR"s 20031 was travelling on the same route to The Great Central railway

Not really a misallocation as such, but just seen Northern Rail 'pacer' 144023 at Knottingley station about to work the 14:17 to Leeds running as a two-car unit, minus it's centre car 55859.

The centre car was damaged by fire a few weeks ago on a run from Manchester Victoria to Leeds and suffered further damage at the hands of the fire brigade in the process of accessing underfloor components to extinguish the blaze.
The unit was taken to Newton Heath depot for assessment.
The centre car will be repaired and put back into service, with the unit formed as a 2 car set in the meantime.
As for DDA, the rolling stock owners are looking at their options. The owners of the Class 142's are not planning any modifications and the units are expected to be withdrawn by 2019 (or sooner, depending on stock movements relating to electrification and whether a case is made for retaining the units to provide additional capacity on non-electrified routes), while the owner of Classes 143 and 144 say the units can be modified to comply with DDA requirements, but have not said whether they will be modified or not.
