Makes me wounder about Go Ahead taking Tate's one day. Do like Go Ahead however, They seem ok as a company and there good at running them keeping each companies own ID too for example Konect Bus, Plymouth Citybus & Brighton & Hove.

When Eastbourne Buses was up for sale the union was in favour of Go-Ahead rather than Stagecoach as they apparently treat their staff better.

I like Go Ahead. Nice modern well turned out fleet. Good that they retain local identities and liveries. Plenty of variety of vehicles across their fleets.
As noted previously they seem to have been snapping up a few companies recently. They have also expanded their existing fleets with a lot of contract work wins, notable ones being on the Isle Of Wight & the Wilts & Dorset areas.

As KonectBus is rather small as GA's only subsidiary in East Anglia, this purchase makes perfect sense. GA was in talks to purchase a stake in Ipswich Buses a few years ago but this never materialised. Maybe GA will purchase Anglian, or even parts of TGM from Arriva?

Maybe GA will purchase Anglian? www.go-ahead.com/media/news/2012news/2012-04-23.aspx"The Go-Ahead Group is pleased to announce the acquisition of Anglian Buses. The company is based in Beccles, Suffolk and operates 71 buses. The business runs services from the Suffolk coast to, from and within Norwich, as well as in Yarmouth, Lowestoft and on the Suffolk coastal strip down to Ipswich. The business has two depots, in Beccles and Rackheath, and 133 staff including 100 bus drivers. It operates a mix of commercial routes and school and local bus contracts. The business was established in 1981 by David and Christine Pursey, both of whom will now retire. Andrew Pursey will stay with the business and become Managing Director. The company name and brand will remain in place. David Brown, Group Chief Executive of Go-Ahead said:"Anglian Buses fits well with our strategy of acquiring well-managed businesses which have the potential for growth and further development. We look forward to building on the success already achieved by the Pursey family and the Anglian Bus team.""

Would be logical. Maybe the acquisition of Hedingham and Anglian is intended to open the door at Ipswich.
Go East Anglia, anyone?

I guess Ipswich Buses will be on the cards soon. As mentioned elsewhere there was talk a year or two back that Go-Ahead would take a stake in Ipswich Bus (like Transdev has in NCT) however this was abandoned.
