Who said they were crap? I know I certainly didn't! Please don't put words into my mouth please. Thanks. Red Line mark 2? Hardly a glowing reference. I don't think property i.e. shop units are an ideal comparison to small operators leasing buses. Obviously in some situations where a tendered service specifies new low floor vehicles and the operator can't afford the cost of purchasing them outright, leasing them for the duration of the contract is a sensible option. I can't comment on the Red Line situation.

The link is that the owner of Tates' bought a cat from the owner of YL. Dunno how this would have a bearing on how the company operates though?

Tates seem a good operator in Wakefield, always on time & drivers are kind. I don't visit Barnsley often so I don't know what they are like over there.

Lack imagination on their routes (Basically duplicate Stagecoach ones and run 3 minutes in front), they don't have the best fleet in the world and their website had images nicked off Fotopic sites.

Tates aren't looked at very highly in Wakefield from a passenger point of view, old buses, drivers sometimes look scruffy and unproffesional and loadings are pretty light. I hope for the sake of Yorkshire Line they are not connected. If you look at the Arriva Yorkshire Facebook page a few people asking Arriva to restore the 444 to Barnsley as the passengers don't like Tates travel's buses.

Wouldn't it be an idea to invite the creators of the YL proboards site to join our forum?

"This new service starts 31st January 2011 in association with ASDA. " This is from the Facebook page.
Have ASDA provided funding for the 53 at all or have they agreed to paint a bus in ASDA colours? Or is it meaningless?
