Something which would be unheard of thesedays, but does everyone remember when Yorkshire Rider would routinely use coaches on normal local bus services.
This took place mainly in Halifax but also occured in Bradford. Sometimes it was on services that would be suitable for coaches such as the 528, 562, X36 etc but in other cases it was fairly local work.
I can't remember when this ceased but many Tigers received Calderline and Bradford Traveller livery. Prior to that they were either in Yorkshire Rider or Gold Rider livery.
One that a certain person here would be interested in. The Claremount service 574/5/7/8/9 as it was back then, used to regularly throw up a Plaxton Paramount Tiger around 1996/7/8ish.

I remember the coaches well on the X services.
Used to see 1611? in White Rose Express Livery regularly on the X33.
Just found a couple of old photos of 1607 in Gold Rider livery & 1608 in old Halifax livery - I think this was the only one in this livery?

Clifton, I am certain you will find that it is actually 1606, by this time registered WSV 410 that was painted in the HalifaxJOC 'reversed' livery. From memory, this was an attempt to revive the private hire department at Halifax, but First gave it up eventually. The livery was so similar to the Abercynon livery at the time, and the bus went on loan there. It will come as no surprise to anybody that a certain G.G.Hilditch was the GM of Abercynon at the time.

Thanks Ratty. It's an old photo taken in the parking area behind Saville Street depot in Wakefield. It is WSV410, can't see any fleet number on it! I probably incorrectly titled the photo when I scanned it in.

Sorry everybody, but this is what happens when you pin your faith in a supposedly well researched book about Halifax Corp/JOC and their successors. If I had sat and thought about it 1608 never had destination equipment until very late on in its life, and was just used on private hire and contract work. Itwas 1608 that was the bus in 'reversed Halifax 'livery not 1606. Please accept my apologies, if I had have looked in a pile of Metro Transport News's I would have got the accurate information. The rest of the post is correct though!!!
