Wonder where the solo's will end up ? Just seen on flickr that some Burnley ex H&D B10B's are been scrapped. Surely they have a few more years in them ? Which ones? Could post a link? If its the Striders probably because they were rotten, step entrance and some were for sale for months so probably decided was easier to scrap.

Keighley have borrowed an Enviro for use this week. It should have been out today but it was broken - and its brand new!! It is registered YX11HPU, an 8.8m 29 seat version. I understand its going to be used on Oakworth 717 for the rest of the week. It is seen here after clearance tests www.flickr.com/photos/thrashmerchant/6022745893/in/photostream

I reckon they will be well suited to Keighleys roads as they have a good turning circle on them.

May need to double check on the 05 one's however as they aren't leased.

I reckon they will be well suited to Keighleys roads as they have a good turning circle on them. After clearance tests today, it couldn't use Mornington Street (service 716) as the sudden steep incline meant the front bumper would have been ripped off! Also the Mini Pointless Darts they want to replace are also 29 seaters, and one or two routes struggle with them - i imagine they will want a larger capacity vehicle such as a Solo or Streetlite.

Solo's are fairly decent little runners. I am a fan of them.
I would have a Solo over an MPD Dart any day.

Shame they have 2 seats less than the Darts otherwise that could be an option. A current solo however to the same length as the Dart could hold 4 more at 33.

Nah. Merc engines every time, though the Cummins option would suit with the Darts also having Cummins power would mean mechanics would have a level of familiarity.

You must be the only person I know that likes Merc. Cummins I like the same as MAN but never Merc! Too slow and sound boring

How about Hybrid Solos, although I guess they might not be able to deal with the hills *and are more expensive)

The restyled Solos (is it SR or something like that) would look good

One of the B7RLE's has now arrived in York and there is also 2 NC Leyland Olympian's in from K&D which i assume is for the races next week.
Also noticed on flickr they are using F349WSC on open tops, surely if i was a tourist i would rather be on an open topper.

But the problem is they are using it when it's boiling hot outside. It looks a bit of a mess. I thought at least they could give it a full city sightseeing makeover. I am guessing B241WUL is withdrawn and with many MCW's been withdrawn they are pretty short on the open topper side of the fleet. It's a shame the city sightseeing network is not getting the same investment as other parts of the transdev network such as coastliner and Harrogate. A big profit must be made on the tours considering how much they charge.

How much do they have to pay for the brand though?

A big profit must be made on the tours considering how much they charge. It's more labour intensive as you have the guides as well as the drivers, staff working at key roadside locations promoting the service. Therefore higher operating costs. Patronage will heavily be dependent on good weather. Trade will be lighter when it's raining. The PVR drops after the summer so you won't necessarily be able to sweat the asset as much compared to if it was a normal service bus.

As F349WSC is a spare bus for City Sightseeing then it's obvious it will appear at the height of summer. No different from what the closed top Metrobus used to do.
