It's a bit difficult to tell at the moment as VOSA had a field day with them and ordered them to take buses off the road a week or two ago.
They currently have 5 Metroriders: L210 ONO, M212 STO, N219 VVO, M627 WBV, M630 WBV.
They have 1 Dart that I've seen in use: ex YTC/Stagecoach Yorkshire K417 HWG.
3 BMC Falcons: ex Paul's Travel BU05 EHB, BU05 EKO, BX55 NZS.
They did have the following but I've not seen them for some time, so the VOSA visit may have meant they've been disposed of.
Wright Handybus Darts: J609 KCU and K382 RTY.
Lynx Mk2s: H179 OSG, H181 OSG, H182 OSG, H183 OSG, H184 OSG, H185 OSG and XAZ 1292 (ex H187 OSG).
Optare Delta: G316 YHJ.
MCW Metrobus (ex M Travel): A697 UOE.
You will find the 3 BMC's and 1 Dart on the 143 between Knottingley and Wakefield. The Metroriders will be on the 488 Chequerfield route.
I hope this answers your query.
Regards, Adam Smith
P.S. You mention 'which vehicles do they own'. I believe some of them are leased.

Not sure what's going on with the 412 to Donny. Over the past few weeks all the buses I see are on the 143 or 488.
The 412 requires 2 buses I think though on the day VOSA struck, their Jonkheere Volvo B10M coach (C404 LRP) made an appearance on the 412 to cover.
The last time I was on the 412 - I got off at Ferryrbridge Square and it was a Lynx though was a very rough ride. Driver hammering the bus, from memory the bus had an under-inflated tyre on the nearside giving poor ride quality, especially over the rough roads in Ponte that never seem to get any better.

That's a shame about the Lynxes, Adam. Came across your videos of them the other day, and was thinking about coming over to Wakey (from Bfd) for a trip on the 143. Doesn't seem worth it now! Martin.

The BMC Falcons that were with South Yorkshire Motors, have now all moved back to Fair Rider/Paul's travel Garage. -I saw all five parked up inside as I drove past. One of them still had 143 in it's blinds.

They are devising a new livery still the two tone blue theme. An Optare MetroRider is sporting it which I came across at Wake, however was unable to get shot of it!

This so called 'new livery' is just the Stagecoach livery painted over, N216 VRC was new to Trent, then to Tracky and obviously on to Stagecoach Yorkshire.
The Lynxes have gone for scrap sadly though they were scrap when they bought and ran them, they were well knackered.
According to my records, below are the vehicles SYM currently have and are being operated. Those starred signify that they wear SYM livery.
Optare Metroriders (of varying sizes) M627 WBV*, N216 VRC, N219 VVO*, R86 BDW, R188 BDW, R230 SCH, R231 SCH.
Northern Counties Leyland Olympian D264 JVR. Looks ok and the Gardner engine in it sounds relatively smooth.
Dennis Darts K417 HWG*, K382 RTY*.

Another update on the fleet. I rode in Olympian D264 JVR today which made an unscheduled stop into their depot, the driver said that I could take a few photos. L102 GHN, a Volvo B6 is now here wearing pseudo-Stagecoach livery with Accrington Transport names though not being used yet. Metrorider M212 STO is being cannibalised. R188 BDW is now numbered 200 and wearing full livery. R86 BDW is being prepared for repaint. A shame because they started off quite well. I reckon they tried getting too big too fast.
I was on Metrorider R230 SCH on Thursday which was quite pleasant inside. The driver drove by a bus stop full of people though it's probably because she was texting on her phone at the time and missed the stop.
What evidence is there to suggest number plate swapping?

Well, they've been 'done' by VOSA before when they swooped on Pontefract bus station waving their PG9's about the place.

I'm inclined to agree with Danny with regards to the VOSA investigation... lets see what happens after Monday...
Not sure about vehicle ID switching but I've experienced and witnessed early running lots of times and I wouldn't be surprised if this is brought up as well.

A public enquiry was had with the commissioner on the 31st of March with regard to this operator.
SYM are still operating buses however in the enquiry, maintenance was touched upon and from what else I've heard, they've had to taken on new engineering contracts as part of the 'deal' between the operator and commissioner.
They now have K28 XBU, a Carlyle Dart still running around in Rossendale livery.
Presumed on loan is M Travel MCW Metrobus POG 595Y. Both buses have been operating the 487 service.

Some further changes to the fleet include: New are Mercedes 709Ds N472/6XRC and P480DPE from River Link, Paignton. Optare MetroRider R188BDW has now been painted into fleet livery so may stay! It has been allocated fleetnumber 200. The Dart ex Rossendale is infact K28XBA not XBU as Adam mentioned. Some pics of the new buses can be found here: jacksbusphotos.fotopic.net/c1190495.html
