hey, Just read that pia are to continue there leeds-bradford to islamabad flights twice a week and that soon a B777 will replace the A310 currently on the route, this is due to alot of late arrivals and departures that have taken lbia over the noise threshold for certain times of the evening by using the A310....
cant wait to see a B777 landing at LBIA....

No. 777-200 will be tested once i don't know the date but it will. Testing for the load factor plus other things. The A310 will remain. If the 777 is a success it will become the norm. If not A310 will continue.
As for A330/40 and 747, get your head out of the sand. MAN is across the pennine's and like i say the biggest you'll see at Leeds is TOM 763 to PMI during summer, BGI during winter & 777 to Islamabad.

ummmm, think fwybuses needs to look at some photo research to see that leeds bradford used to have regular 747 visits, plus dc-10, lockheed tristars and have had a330 land here recently, booo hoooo

Maybe be capable of it. Yes but thats on a good day. Under CAT III weather, a 777 will struggle due to the short runway length & runway build it's self. Add onto that the breaking distance required plus the weight of a 777 will not make it ideal. Same can be said under CAT II weather, however it'll be less at risk but still very high of diversion. A 757 is the biggest that LBA will take safely and without chance of a go around, or diversion under both CAT II & III and even then sometimes it's a struggle.
And yes 747 did make it in/out of Leeds to canada. But thats a 747-100/200 which requires less takeoff/landing distance then the current model 747-400 which is suggest in the post by 32526.
Also the A330 ... um wanna check your details? That was a MOD charter thank you very much.
LBA is regularly handling 2ish million passenger's a year. Before you start saying we will be getting them we need a) a terminal which is more then capable of handling not only long haul flights but all the short haul we currently have on top of that which it's not and B) a far longer runway then we currently have due to the CAT II/III/ aircraft required landing distances.
Also if you want, i can post a link. LBA is not interested in links to the Long Haul market, and is more focused upon obtaining links to the power house of Germany, Scandinavia, getting Mediterranean capacity to levels that they want, polish flights & getting the Egyptian links back.
So i have done my research unlike you as is quite clear from your post.
