Changes have taken place across the Pennines in Greater Manchester. As of last Friday (1st April), GMPTE has now been re-named to Transport for Greater Manchester (similar to Transport for London), while GMITA has been re-named to Transport for Greater Manchester Committee. www.tfgm.com/corporate/TfGM.cfmNew website: www.tfgm.com

It's a shame they don't implement the London rules of red buses only. If only Manchester made it a rule of Orange buses only that way it doesn't lose tradition.
Do they have a similer tender to London where companies have to bid for routes ?
The naming is a little bit silly.

The name change is purely to reflect the creation of the merged Greater Manchester Authority (forgotten its official name) and is nothing to do with London style contracting,

I have just picked up some new timetables from May 1st. On the front, the M is on its own and no longer in a square. Also, instead of GMPTE being named below, Transport for Greater Manchester is named just on the right. To complete the trivia, the GMPTE/TfGM logo used to be on the right but now it is on the left!
