Report on the Metro website says that they have welcomed the news from the Transport Select Committee, who have called on the Government to correct regional disparities in transport investment. Metro chairman Councillor Chris Greaves calls it as 'just what's needed in West Yorkshire and Leeds City region'. Metro now want the Transport Secretary Phillip Hammond to come up to the area and discuss the plans that they wish to put into place. Those plans include improving the local rail network, introducing a tram-train link to the airport, the Leeds trolleybus network and the building of the Castleford Interchange. www.wymetro.com/news/releases/110302

Surely if they want a Tram-Train to the airport wouldn't it make more sense to have a tram system bid instead of the trolleybus bid?

Train. Literally build of the horsforth line as there is nothing disturbing with regards to housing/roads.
Could then upgrade the Leeds-York via Harrogate line to electric.
