Out of all WYPTE and Yorkshire Rider Metrobuses, do any survive. Such as the CUB/Y, A/LWY, A/KUM, B/RWY, F/XWY batch ?

7514 is a display bus painted yellow which I think is with a community group based on the Holme Wood estate in Bradford. Of the F-XWY batch 7604 & 7605 were sent to Sri Lanka as part of Asia Bus Response as part of the effects to rebuild that country after the 2004 Tsunami www.asiabusresponse.co.uk/

Will any MK2's still be alive. Wonder if it is possible to bring back one of the F-XWY batch back to the uk.

It would be possible but somewhat expensive otherwise only 3 wypte metrobuses survive in this country

That was cut up for spares sometime ago by another preservation group, it was one of the b rwy batch.
Two cub y survived with an independent both ex wypte/London transport but they were scrapped too

Why were all these scrapped well most. I mean batches of similar age from WMPTE and Merseyside still go strong with independents.

Because first do not sell buses to other operators, no doubt scared they will do a better job of running a bus service with their own ex buses.... The metrobuses were all scrapped straight from service apart from one from the brwy batch. The last in service in the uk was 2005/6 with first mAnchester still operating a few of the f xwys at the time

Firstgroups policy stinks. How long has it been in play.

Firstgroups policy stinks. How long has it been in play. It's a wise business move, why would you want to give assets to a potential competitor. How often do you see a supermarket close down for another one to move into that property unless its part of a business divestment. Furthermore, if you had more second hand vehicles flooding the market, it would suppress their value possibly making their scrap value worth more!

The scrap vehicle can also provide a useful source for parts no longer available at an economic price
