There should be a daytime link between Bradford and Ilkley, especially for when the trains go t*ts up That's hardly a good model for running a service - there's no way that the bus is going to compete with a half-hourly train service taking 30 minutes, and you can't predicate an entire route on (a) freeloading pensioners or (b) the odd time when the train service is knackered. There are plenty of options for Bradford to Ilkley by bus, changing at Keighley, Otley or Leeds.

I was fortunate to ride the Harrogate & District route from York to Harrogate in 2008. I rode a National Express route from York to Driffield via Fridaythorpe as it has no local bus service as such.
I remember riding a route from Oldham to Halifax in 1996 and am surprised it does not still run, even if only every 2 hours. Maybe CentreBus could restore this service experimentally?

I remember riding a route from Oldham to Halifax in 1996 and am surprised it does not still run, even if only every 2 hours. Maybe CentreBus could restore this service experimentally? Assuming you're referring to the 562. Got poor loadings in the Greater Manchester end towards the end of the service (as everyone jumped on the more frequent 83 and not many travelled over to Halifax). Metro decided it wasn't worth funding a cross-country service to Oldham, GMPTE didn't want to fund it by itself, which is why the Oldham-Denshaw section stayed in place, orginally as a 562 before being re-numbered to 407 when the Sunday 562 service was withdrawn. Perhaps Centrebus could bid to take over the 407 when the contract comes up and then run them comercially between Denshaw and Halifax to provide the route between Halifax and Oldham. It's a shame that First didn't do with the 562 what they did with the 365 and merge the Oldham-Halifax route into First Manchester's 83 service between Manchester and Sholver and run it like the 184 (2 buses from First Manchester, 2 from First WY) on a hourly basis. Have the 83 leave Manchester at around on the hour (Oldham at around 35 mins past) and have a half-hourly option to go to West Yorkshire (one to Halifax, the other to Huddersfield). Also gives the people of Halifax a bus link to Manchester, which would certainly appeal to the Saturday shopper.

A one off route that picks up at Headingley Carnegie Stadium and the first drop off is at Quarry house. Major scope for it at Rugby League games. Think there were about 30 people on the 56 in Blue & Amber last night when i got off in Swarcliffe.
