Here are some current fleet stats for First WY. All figures may vary slightly as it is very difficult to actually know what buses are officially withdrawn thesedays
Bradford Fleet - 208 buses Low Floor - 89% Average Age - 6.5 Years
Halifax Fleet - 130 buses Low Floor - 82% Average Age - 8 Years
Huddersfield Fleet - 104 buses Low Floor - 87% Average Age - 8.5 Years
Leeds Fleet - 405 buses Low Floor - 94% Average Age - 6 Years
York Fleet - 99 buses Low Floor - 100% Average Age - 5.5 Years
Overall Fleet - 923 buses Low Floor - 91% Average Age - 7.5 Years
Such a low average age is very impressive and in line with what the more premium operators tend to achieve. (Blazefield etc)

It's also surprising how few buses First now operate in Huddersfield - it was twice that size when run by Huddersfield Corporation / JOC!

Hudds used to have two depots then, one at st.Thomas rd Longroyd Bridge and the other at the side of the slaughterhouse, on Great Northern St.

In 1995 Huddersfield received "110 new buses" and the fleet was about 150-160 back then.
Of course since then they have lost loads of work and withdrawn lots of services.

Yes, remember that well, the new buses received in 95 were mainly to counter-act the threat from Bolton based Blue-Bus who had set up in direct competition on several key Huddersfield routes. Apart from the 50 or so Lances, most of the others delivered in 95, step entrance Dart midis and Merc minibuses were quickly transferred away once the war with Blue-Bus was won. It was a good time to be interested in Huddersfield buses then.

Presumably 44 as it was 4001-4048 and 3201-3218 for the full size buses.
It's a shame the internet wasn't around in 94-96 as what with Blue Bus v YR Huddersfield and Yorkshire Traction v Yorkshire Travel it was a really interesting period and possibly the biggest bus war in West Yorks since. Timetables changed so often and with no Changing Times fixed dates either, it was difficult to know what was being run when.
