I have read that Longstaff's have called it a day on their coach operations after 80-odd years. This is sad news, as they are a local company with a long tradition of providing a good service. They will still run the 205 service between Dewsbury and Mirfield - could there be a chance of them expanding their bus service operations? I hope they do to give Arriva a bit of competition in the area.

This sounds familiar isnt this what Black Prince did?? They ran buses and coaches. Then called it a day with coaches and expanded the bus operations. Would be interesting if Longstaff did this. Maybe get some franchised routes with Metro (Connects). Or maybe run services that are being withdrawn from First in Kirklees as seen on Look North today!

Anyway Longstaff don't own their coaches, they lease them off Arriva Bus & Coach at Gomersal.

If they wanted to pick up withdrawn services, there's plenty of choice for them closer to home, just pick up on any one of the myriad of Arriva's cuts!

Its a shame that they are to stop running their coach operation. Ive seen two of their coaches at Huddersfield bus station this week.
Many other operators have stopped the coach side of the business and then expanded the bus side of the business. Could they be another to do so? Will have to see.
