Metro are doing their best to promote public transport by saying it's good for your health. It follows recent research which shows that people who use the bus to commute suffer less mental stress compared to car drivers, as bus passengers can 'read a book or newspaper or catching up with friends'. www.wymetro.com/news/releases/100921-stressCue criticism of bus and train services.....

I agree with kendall. AND it's also bad when either the bus turns up LATE or dosn't turn up at all and when it does decide to show up, it stops at everystop and everyone pays with £20. BRING VAULTS TO LEEDS.

BRING VAULTS TO LEEDS. The bus turns up late ususally because it was delayed due to increased congestion caused by the NIMBY one per car gang. This breed then start their journies earlier and earlier and before long everything is starting an hour earlier and guess what an hour less in bed or was it an hours less sleep.

I'd be very shocked if the bus turned up late 75% of the time due to congestion. 56, for example (my local route), out of Leeds it is 90% bus lanes and it can turn up on time in Leeds but still be late when it has got to Swarcliffe. I often see buses running in pairs up on Saturdays. Now, if the route was 100% shared with cars on the roads, then i'd agree with your point. But it isn't. Lets face it. If the bus is superior, it needs to be quicker and more convinient than the car before people will get out of their cars and onto buses. Could you get a bus to go from Swarcliffe to Chapel Allerton in 15mins whilst picking up passengers? I doubt it, even when the roads have no cars on them.

I cannot comment on the specific Bus Lanes in Leeds but you might well be blessed with lots more than other parts of WY. The bus would win if the cost of travel was lower than the car subject to only a minimal additional time penalty.

The bus is often superior as you can read or use your phone or even nod off. The walk from the bus stop is good for health. The door to door connvenience of a car often leads to a sedentary lifestyle which in turn screws up your retirement with diabetes, heart disease etc. Plus the cost of a car screws up your retirement funds. A car costs abt £250k over working life.

The bus is often superior as you can read or use your phone or even nod off. . That may be a plus point but the fact that other people are using their phones is a negative.

Not sure about that one, I must use the wrong buses, although you only hear one side most of the ones which catch my attention are usually a bit heated, what some people are propared to discuss in public......

I'd say the majority of buses I use run early, so would agree using the bus is good for your health as it often involves a run to the bus stop

Well buses running early is the biggest cause of licences been revoked by VOSA, they aren't bothered about late runnings, so them buses you get on need reporting.

I thought it those operators not fulfilling their timetabled services which were at the top of the VOSA hit list. You must be aware of those local companies which fall into this category.
