Noted a few times buses send to "recycle" their seats by putting odd seats to replace their damaged ones. Sometimes more than one that doesn't even match the rest of the bus!!! See pics was taken on Arriva Volvos (sorry forgot to see what bus this was) There was no less than FOUR diff designs. Dread to think what upstairs was like. This is not good for first impression when passengers get on!!!!! Gaz

West Riding and Yorkshire buses used to use this same design too didn't they?
So when a bus is brought into the fleet from somewhere else (London in this example?) and needs a seat refitting, they might not have any more of the same material. So they use whatever they have, judging by the photos its either the very old moquette pattern or newer Arriva corporate pattern.

I don't think WR/YWD ever used that design? Maybe it was fitted in London before these vehicles arrived here?

One of the N-reg double deckers that work out of heckmondwike has had the very comfy coach style seats replaced with ones from an old Leyland Olypian (the tiger skin style). These seats are over 20 years old and were very uncomfortable when I last rode on this bus.

I worked with J&B Hunters in Leeds for a while, who have some ex Maidstone & District Metrobuses. After having all seats re-fitted and new blue seats put in, they kept all the old yellow ones which had leathery plastic parts on the sides (the stlye when they where in Maidstone). There where loads of old seats stacked up in the garage! Because these buses went out on school runs, they seats got vandalised every now and then, and where replaced for a short while by the old ones. This looked really odd, with one yellow seat amongst all blue ones!

I love the seats on the Arriva lances and B10B Striders. The lances aren't that great anymore but I still find the B10Bs to be comfy and in good condition.

I too like the seats in the Striders for their comfort value and I do like the red diamond moquette in general. At least with these style seats, there's not much chance of mix and matching. The red diamond moquette was used in the West Riding Mk2 Lynx and the NC Volvo Olympians at Selby. The Mk1 Lynx, bar 252, had the browny blue moquette.
When seat cushions are changed on deckers, I can't understand why they don't put all the mixed ones at the back upstairs leaving the downstairs to look unified.
I think the Dennis Arrow 'angrycommuter' refers to is N807 TPK. However, N809 TPK has a few Olympian seats in upstairs at the back. These won't be around for long so you won't have to put up with them for much longer.

There were also a couple of Lynx's with Yorkshire Buses that had a grey and blue chevron style. These ones were the E/F-UTX/XTX reg I think (the ones with the really crappy electronic displays). These buses also didn't have a step halfway up the bus, just a ramp type floor from the entrance up to the back. I think a couple of G reg ones also had the ramp design G49 CVG rings a bell but could be wrong. I think this one had the red seats like the Mk2 lynx's and a similar model had all brown ones if I recall correctly.

The ex Volvo Mk1 Lynxes were:
L001 G542 GAC L002 G148 CHP L003 G149 CHP L004 G49 CVC
I'm sure all of these had the red diamond moquette.
I remember the ex MTT ones that started life over here in Yorkshire with YWD. They were then transferred over to the South Yorkshire Road Transport branch. They were often on my school route, the 566 between Carleton High School and Pontefract.

Slightly off topic, but Lynx related.... I remember years ago when the Lynx was first introduced to YWD fleet I travelled on the old 280 service from Huddersfield to Wakefield (went Hudds to Dews via roughly same route as current 202 then route of current 278 to Wakey). This bus was silver if I remember rightly and had no YWD names anywhere apart from white transfers in the two windows closest to the entrance that simply said "Yorkshire". I also remember some Lynx's that operated completely cream with only red Yorkshire Buses names on the sides - I think these were the G-reg ones with the orange grab handles and chunky bell button.

I shall have to check out my WR/YWD/S&D Lynx albums when I get home to see if there's anything that matches your description. The G reg Volvo Mk1's were all over white with grey skirts and had the L number and Yorkshire fleet names in the window. The cream Lynx with the red, green or blue fleetname, depending on their locale, were F***AWW ones. Here's a photo of F287 AWW in such a guise adamsbusphotos.fotopic.net/p10201253.html Adam

I always liked the coach seats in some of West Riding's Leyland Olympians. C612 ANW was my favourite Olympian.

Oh and Lynx 253, the ex Solent Blue Line one had grey, orange and red seats in the same style as the WR ones that were in brown and blue.

can anyonr remember 1 of the early lynx s having dual doors 252,253 poss x demo was converted very quickly remember something vaguely. It was 254, E254 TUB. Built by Leyland to dual door spec, after testing or whatever, it was snapped up by West Riding who had it for a week or so in it's dual door layout before it was converted to single door. It then went on to serve Sheffield & District and back to West Riding. 252 was ex demo, 253 was ex Solent which was unlike the others in that it was the only Lynx in the fleet to have a Leyland TL11H engine. Hope this helps. Adam

Was never sure about the Spotted seats on the late West Riding/Yorkshire Buses and early Arriva Yorkshire fleet. They look pretty poor now on the ALX300s. These buses could really do with a refurbishment!

For me, the best are either the leather ones on Keighley and District's 05 reg 662 liveried B7RLE's or the ones fitted to K2-7 YCL.
The worst by far are the standard design for First group.

Arriva don't seem to give a damn about their buses, 2 or 3 Presidents now have non matching rear lights.

These buses could really do with a refurbishment! Arriva are going through the ALX300s with rear body work been replaced and buses recieving a fresh coat of paint as well. 484 has recieved this treatment and now wears interurban livery.
