I think it was 1986, mostly Olympians, Nationals, VRT's and Leopards which blended into the fleet and were identical to what EYMS already owned.

Didn't United have a Whitby and Scarborough depot ? The United Scarborough Depot was only a very short walk from the current Bus Station, but was on two levels with the single deck coaches and saloons parked up below any deckers on the upper level.

If I remember correctly, United was a sizable bus company on the NBC days covering a sizable part of the North of England and in the run up to deregulation and privatization chunks of their operation were passed to other operations. Scarborough went to East Yorkshire, Carlisle went to Cumberland, while their Northumberland operations were hived off to form Northumbria Motor Services.

In Hull yes (hopefully), but the Scarborough fleet will still be around for a while to come.

Don't think Scarborough will want any more, they're probably wanting some new buses themselves.

EYMS will withdraw the 700 Hull Park & Ride at the end of May, wonder where the Wright Eclypses will go?

Its an unusual park and ride - very close to the city centre by P+R standards, and also commercially operated
I'd guess 338-340 will go back into fleet livery and general use. 338-342 (Wright Eclipses) were originally Priory Park vehicles but when EYMS lost that contract and took on the Walton Street site 341-342 got repainted into fleet livery and added into the general use fleet

I travelled on the 700 twice last year and there were no more than half a dozen passengers each trip and as mentioned above it is no more than a ten to fifteen minute walk for most people. Also the car park itself was no more than a quarter full when I was there on a Saturday so it's really no surpise to see this go. Priory Park is also much easier to find from most routes.

Whether this is just for the five Volvo Citybuses or if the VR will go as well it does not say. Fleet numbers quoted by the EYMS website for these are 881 to 885 and all show a status of delicensed which is what you would expect if this is true. So you may only have a month and a half left to sample the current crop before the service ends on 30 October 2011.

I was hoping common sense had prevailed and they were replacing their step entrance deckers with 2nd hand low floor buses, ah well.

I am sure the Volvo Citybuses will find further use around the UK. The open top ones could be very slim future as who wants to buy a 30 year Citybus o/t when they could get a low floor converted?
