The Calderdale Passenger Consulative Committee has been told that the Halifax-Oldham route (562) "should be urgently restored". Geraldine Carter, Conservative member for Ryburn has said that the service "gave people on both sides of the Pennines access to upland walks by public transport." Meanwhile, Metro spokesman Neil Holt has said that the service would bring benefits to passengers travelling to/from Ripponden, however, WYITA don't have the finances to fund a service and there is little support coming from GMITA too. www.halifaxcourier.co.uk/news/Call-to-get-bus-service.6199826.jp

I personally think they should restore this route too, It was a busy when I used to see it years ago. Maybe HJC or Centrebus could start the service on a commercial "use it or loose it" basis.

I've mentioned this before, the ideal situation would be the 562 operated by Centrebus, 5 mins in front of the First 560 to get them to withdraw it, and then picking up the 407 tender from Denshaw to Oldham.
I would run it with the Tempos interworking with the 528, the 574 interworking with another route with Darts or Solos
It is interesting that the 560 is the only service First operate south of Sowerby Bridge or west of West Vale now, so it does stick out.

Or maybe given that the 407 has changed operators to Stotts Tours recently it could be extended to Ripponden at least and timed to connect with service 557 or 531?
