The days of being thrown about on an MPD going along Colorado Way is numbered!

Are these works to sort out the shockingly bad road surface on entering the complex from the M62 and whatever the underlying cause of this is. I sincerely hope so because that stretch of road has been dreadfully bouncy for a while!

Yes according to Wakefield Council some steel slack (or something similar sounding) was used as a road material. This stuff got too wet, expanded and so knackered the road! This material is also used on Denby Dale Road around Sainsbury's and the retail parks, so more disruptive works to be expected here as well. A headache awaits at some time in the future because I bet Wakefield Council have used this stuff on many roads over the years!

I thought it was Steel "Slag", which was used in the road foundations and the sub-structure expanded in an uneven manner when the water got in. Steel Slag had been used extensively in road foundations for years and is OK provided it doesn't get too wet.
These two roads, this one and the one in Wakefield, will require this material to be totally removed and the foundations replaced hence the proposed 38 week road closure at the J32 Outlet.
