I must support the Huddersfield Bus co on its 231/2 services when I have looked to catch one it turns up mostly on time or only a few minutes late.
An ex-local Councilor who logs all his journeys and reports his findings each month in the Wakefield Express also appear to report they are doing OK. Yes there were problems in the bad weather but he gave them a thumbs up last month

Another meeting is to take place at the Ryburn Forum at Ripponden Junior School next Thursday (11th March). From the two meetings so far, Centrebus have agreed to re-route services to cover Rochdale Road, and late afternoons and early evenings in Barkisland, from the next service change date in late April. A long term review of the changes is also taking place and any changes will happen in the July service changes. www.wymetro.com/news/releases/calderdalefeedback

The complaints keep on coming. One bloke had a go at a driver today on the 528 wanting to know why First were no longer operating the route just because he couldn't use his first dayrider. Also, just a note, the Darts are no good for this route (lack of power) and it seems that the customer pick up from Littleborough to Rochdale has dropped, loads of people at the bus stops, not one person wanted the 528. You'd think they'd be a few people not bothered about paying a few pence to Rochdale, people nowadays!

It all adds up though if people are buying a First Day ticket and a Centrebus Day Ticket all the time, I know I am certainly not going on the 528 like I used to. Centrebus don't do Half Fare day tickets and that's the main reason I don't get the 528 anymore with me having a Half Fare Scholars pass and able to claim Half Fare. If they had a Half Fare ticket I would travel on it but until then I will get the 590.

Nobody would buy two day tickets, they will either buy normal single fares, Metro DayRovers or a System One Daysaver. The 590 wouldn't be a subsitute for the 528 for 99% of passengers what with it going a different route and taking twice as long!
Passengers in GM will just see this unfamiliar orange bus approaching and let it go, until the familar First bus turns up.

It's a shame Centrebus haven't received their Tempos for the 528 - this would have been a more powerful launch. However, if they are employed on this route soon there should be no complaints about lack of power!

You'd think they'd be a few people not bothered about paying a few pence to Rochdale, people nowadays! There are 8 buses an hour running between Littleborough and Rochdale which are run by First (454, 457, 589, 590), so it's understandable that people are going to wait for one of those with their FirstDay or FirstWeek tickets rather than paying on the 528. The only people in Greater Manchester who would use the 528 would be people with the free bus passes, anyone with the SystemOne tickets or passes (for all buses in GM) or people travelling over to West Yorkshire. And even then, I could still see some people using the 590 with their FirstDay ticket and putting up with the 25-30 minute extra journey time. Or they can get off at Todmorden and/or Hebden Bridge and then jump on the 591, 592, 593 or 594 to continue to Halifax.

Indeed on January 30th I saw former short Marshall Dart R711MEW on this route and it seemed inadequate there. And it still had the letters MTL on the seats even though MTL had sold their London operation in 1998! I was hoping to go to Rochdale on Easter Monday to ride a Tempo but I doubt I will as they are looking unlikeky to be in service by then.

I went to Optare yesterday and nothing was in sight there either. The Tempos should be delivered soon, I believe the Engineering Director has been up to Optare to inspect the Tempos last week. Since the Grantham Tempos that were ordered afterwards should be delivered by the 11th April for the network relaunch there I would hope they will appear in early April.
