The Bradford Telegraph and Argus has been talking about a meeting at WYITA about bus stations in West Yorkshire. The report talks about Brighouse bus station and the impact it has made since opening and reporting on feedback plus Pudsey bus station, which has begun construction work ready for next autumn. Two other places that are mentioned in the report are Castleford and Heckmondwike. For Castleford, it's reported that a new bus and rail interchange will be built with 11 drive-in/reverse out stands and two alighting stands. 3 objections has been made to the site of the new station, but Metro have said it should be overcome. Should they do, planning permission will be submitted this month and work could start in February 2010 and built in 18-20 months. Meanwhile, Metro are still in discussions with Kirklees Council to build a new bus station in Heckmondwike, which will include the library and information centre. A proposal for four drive-in/reverse out stands and one drive-through stand has been prepared and outline planning permission has been obtained, but there are still some complications to overcome before work can start there too. www.wyita.gov.uk/NR/rdonlyres/3CFA63D1-4F7B-4210-87E1-F40C73F98FB4/0/FWG4NOVEMBER2009ITEM5.pdfwww.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/district/district_spen/district_spen_heckmondwike/4724555.Report_highlights_bus_station_plans/

The plans for the proposals in Castleford have been on display on the building opposite where the buses are currently parked when not on a stand
