Not many Arriva Yorkshire buses still carrying either Manual or Electronic Roller Blinds
By Depot I have just the following 21 now with Roller Blinds:
Heckmondwike and Dewsbury, all Converted
Belle Isle, 4 remain: 156, 496, 498 & 499
Castleford, 4 remain: 103, 657, 659 & 668
Selby 13 remain: 108, 109, 616, 653, 676, 678, 679, 681, 682, 683, 684, 685, & 686.
Unless some of the recent sales have had theirs removed and sent to Selby for conversion.
Not sure if 156 and 616 will get treated to an electronic display but for the rest, why not!

Well if there has been one in 2007, 8 and 9 surely they should carry it on plus the amount of money it makes and the popularity of the event too.

There was a lot of discussion on the 2009 tour that it could be the last since Arriva were reviewing the policy of allowing Joe Public access their Garage sites.
Having said that I'm sure I have seen news on the Arriva web site that certain Depots have had open days during this summer.

I wish Selby would be a bit more inventive with their electronic displays. The Selby-York 42 needs a 'via Cawood' strapline (as per the roller blinds) to help better differentiate between it and the 415.
And, whilst the route numbers seem ok, the destination text used on the electronic displays on the recently transferred-in 65x deckers is the thinest, most stringy writing I've ever seen on the front of a bus.

Well if it is for a good cause I'm sure Arriva won't mind a group of enthusiasts going into the Depots for an hour or so at each depot.

I'm sure you are right about Arriva, unfortunately their Depots are Commercial Business Premises and will therefore need some type of Corporate Liability Insurance. If after any incident on a site it might[/u] be a requirement that a group of any size or over a certain size could invalidate it.

Following 496's repaint it too is now sporting a led destination screen.
That just leaves 3 now 156, 498 and 499 at Belle Isle with roller blinds.

Penfold I agree except it is not that long since some of the Northern Counties Darts had some "smaller" ones fitted.

You never know, a Step entrance Dart has been painted in Interurban livery somewhere else in the UK (Can't remember where) so could be a possibility that they might do the same at Wakefield.

That'll be ex Arriva Yorkshire 159 (J468OKP) which is now with Arriva Northumbria as 1688. www.flickr.com/photos/emdjt42/3839135603/Penfold

Just the two remaining at Belle Isle following the conversion and repaint of 498
The two at Belle Isle 156, and 499
One point is that those replaced on Commanders 495, 497 and 498 also include LED's at side and rear. Very much in the same style of the newer Commanders.
The front version on 496 looks a little less substantial, the route numbers are less pronounced on this one.

They were probably lying around the Depot from old buses.

They were probably lying around the Depot from old buses. Unlikely at Selby, almost half there still have roller blinds, unless they are starting to recover the ones from their East Lancs Volvo Olympians. I can undersand Selby wanting to upgrade 653, that one still had a Manual Blind. That mean just 5 sets of Manual Blinds now. Belle Isle still have a couple 156, days must be numbered and 499, last of the Commanders to be upgraded, will this be complete before the end of the year, most likely. Castleford, just 3 Volvo ALX400's 657, 659 and 668 retain the hand operated blinds. Selby still have 9 Electronic Rollers 108 & 109, if these are destain for Castleford now the Geminis are arriving their days must be numbered. Plus 7 Volvo Presidents 676, 679, 681, 682, 683, 685 and 686

I'm pretty certain it was 659 and by fresh i mean fresh out of the paintshop Couldn't have been 659, that one is still in the old Sandstone and Aquamarine, althought it does have a Hanover Destination Screen now. Might have been 673 that was latest of the ALX400 to be treated to Interurban Livery

Then there were just 10 Roller Blinds to go and half of those must be on borrowed time:
Current list; 109 last Volvo Renown to be transfered to Castleford and all the other have be upgraded. I'll give it another week!
156 might only have a few weeks left with Arriva Yorkshire since it is now the oldest remaining bus in the fleet
499 last one of the original Commanders still to be repainted into Interurban all the others have been upgraded from Manual following their repaints. (It might even be being treated now)
657 & 668 last two of the ALX400's to be upgraded from Manual Rollers can't be long given that 653 and 659 have recently been treated.
679, 681, 682, 683 and 686. These have two things which might extend their Rollers lives, one they are based at Selby and second they are electrically operated Rollers
