Metro will be holding meeting in Greetland and Sowerby Bridge next Monday and Tuesday (21st and 22nd September) regarding the future of several services in Halifax from January 2010. The services affected are 343, 531, 537, 538, 539, 556, 557, 559, 573, 574, 575, 577, 578, 579 and 832. Anyone unable to attend the meeting can read the details and also submit their views on the matter on the Metro website after the meetings. www.wymetro.com/news/releases/CalderdaleMeetings.htm

These are the ones First wanted to cut in April but were persuaded to hold back on pending the consultation

It's good that there is to be proper consultation including details on the website
Metro are hoping to get a number of tenders but if evening and sunday work is included, I can see them all going to First.

Services 343, 531, 557,559,573.574, 577, 578 and 832 dont run evening and Sunday
If the changes go through unchecked Copley and all the rural areas around Sowerby Bridge will be left without a bus and Midgley and Booth will be left with a minibus link to Luddenden Foot (if what I took from the April posting is accurate of course)
It also said that Stainland and Holywell Green would be cut to one bus per hour (think service 539 will go) and lose their evening service to Huddersfield

Are all these services 100% tendered, or are some of them commercial in the daytimes? I see one group of services is part of the Halifax Overground

The 577/578 is technically part of the Brown Line, but that really refers to the frequent 579 mainly.

Metro is proposing that Greetland and Barkisland be linked to Brighouse (via extension of MC4?)
and that the Ripponden area gain a link to the Hospital (services 531 and 566 merged maybe?)
