Was in harrogate yesterday and saw 142053 and a 15* unit on at harrogate at it was working the 1605 from harrogate north think it was a york service
Is it usual for a 142 to be on this line ?

No, the 1529 from Leeds to York is booked a pacer and joins a 150 in Leeds that works the morning Morecambe and return service. However it was a 156 today in place of a 150
AFAIK the pacer also works the 0929 and 1229 from Leeds, 1111 and 1411 from York alone
All other workings are booked double 150 (the York's) or 155+153 (Knaresborough's)

!4Xs are an anachronism! That our busy rail network still has to use these bad examples of rail technology is a disgrace if not a scandal. I know of people who refuse to travel on them (if a wait finds a different class being used) so bad is the ride!
