Arriva are trying to get people on to its services in Heckmondwike and they've been doing this by offering free weekly 'taster' tickets to people over the phone. They've been ringing up people, be it current passengers or people who don't use the bus, who live in the Heckmondwike area to try and promote the new buses that have been put on the 254/255 and 268 services. www.arrivabus.co.uk/content.aspx?id=6946

Sorry but i hope this is the Only Arriva division, and only major bus company that ever do that.
Bit desperate. Maybe try operating a sensible amount of services, open routes and increase frequency's instead of cutting back.
I have my fingers crossed that first or stagecoch for that matter, don't follow suit.

Stagecoach have already done such a scheme where they have targeted a specific demographic market which will be most likely to switch to public transport offering free Megarider tickets.

Personally I think it is a good idea, anything that leads to increased bus usage should be encouraged. It looks like Arriva are turning a corner now the new MD has settled in and I'd like to see other bus companies doing the same

Does anybody know where that photo was taken on the website?

To be honest, i think it will be a corporate image just generally used. I can tell you that it isn't anywhere in Yorkshire.

The photo appears to be the launch of the B7RLEs last year so probably somewhere in the nearby Pennines?
