B L, TLC & CT Plus 'changes' does that mean they have won the contracts for Accessbus? I know TLC's contract was up for renewal.

All the current Accessbus contractors have won the new contracts, the difference is now they have to be registered as local bus services due to changes in legislation

This from 'The Halifax Evening Courier' website - 28 Aug www.halifaxcourier.co.uk/news/Passenger-power-wins-as-bus.5596298.jp'Passenger power wins as bus service is changed BUS operators have changed their service after customers said they kept missing buses. At a meeting organised by Diane Park (Ind, Elland) customers told representatives from TJ Walsh, First and Metro the 522 and 523 service from Halifax to Illingworth, which left at 5.32pm was too early for people finishing work. First has now added another 522 service, leaving at 5.52pm, and the last 523 service will leave the bus station at 6.12pm. Councillor Park said: "It's positive that they have listened and taken action." The company also said it is looking at rescheduling the 526 and 546 services as they both leave the same stand at 5.40pm and customers said they were catching the wrong bus. The changes start on September 28.'

I've always found that looking on the front was a really good way to find the number of the bus. Failing that, the driver usually knows. (But as its a Firstbus there's no guarantee of that!)

Bearing in mind, you don't have clear view of the bus from the queue at peak time. You could ask which idiot decided that two buses with one digit different on the number should leave at the same time at the same stand!!

Bearing in mind, you don't have clear view of the bus from the queue at peak time. You could ask which idiot decided that two buses with one digit different on the number should leave at the same time at the same stand!! If you can't visualise the destination display, ask the driver. If anything, the driver is the most reliable option as the display could be set wrong. I don't think the practice of putting bus services with similar numbers from the same stand is quite so idiotic as you imply. It's hardly the most pressing issue to be resolved when organising a bus station. The fault lies with the passengers boarding the wrong bus and nobody else!

its happened to me a few sats ago. I stood at Birstal Market place and the 220 and 229 due to arrive at the same stop at the same time and goin to the same place only different is the last digit!! both were late and I asked the driver "what number are you" he said "what does it say on the front" and I said Leeds 220 he then said sorry should have read Leeds 229 and he wondered why passengers along the route weren't getting on!!!!! and the correct 220 was behind my bus.

Changing Times booklet is now available and there isn't any major changes. The most significant change is the 576 being increased to every 12 minutes (and is still being run by Halifax depot, according to the Metro Journey Planner). *18/18A - Times changed (Some 18 peak time journeys will run via Stile Hill Way and Colton Lane East instead of School Lane in Colton). *40/40A - Times changed with some journeys operating upto 5 minutes earlier. *503 - Times changed. *521 - Times changed. *522 - Times changed (Service now runs 5 times per hour at 02, 22, 32, 42, 52 and combined 10 minutes with service 523. *523 - Route and times changed. Service now runs between Halifax and Illingworth, Keighley Road via Keighley Road and Heathmoor Park, no longer continuing to Bradshaw (current route to Field Head Lane/Keighley Road then return to Halifax via Keighley Road). *576 - Service frequency increased to 12 minutes *743/844 - Morning times changed. *Yorkshire Coastliner - Winter timetable introduced. Booklet also mentions the 103 timetable changing and the H8 being withdrawn from the end of August. www.wymetro.com/NR/rdonlyres/C5306F80-9775-4B54-BF91-D8E4CA4A29B7/0/CT46_infoleaflet.pdf

Seems to make more sense to have the 523 as a variant of 522. I'm fully expecting the 523 to become a 522 in a future round of changes when First will no doubt claim that Heathmoor Park Road can't support a bus service!
