Following the Mr Men characters on the 268 and famous rugby league players, Arriva are now planning to name the new buses for the 281-283 services after popular Yorkshire sayings. Arriva are asking people to send in their favourite Yorkshire sayings, such as 'If 'is brains were dynamite they wouldn't blow 'is cap off!' and 'There's nowt so queer as folk', with the top 10 being used on 10 of the 17 Enviro 200's. Entries need to be in asap in time for announcement, which is planned for Yorkshire Day on Saturday 1 August. www.arrivabus.co.uk/content.aspx?id=6553www.arrivabus.co.uk/yorkshiresayings/

Jesus i think enough is enough. Getting abit silly now, keep it simple and name the whole fleet after someone famous from the area. Simple.

I don't see the problem people have with Arriva naming their buses, it's not as if its affecting the quality of the fleet or service.
If anything you should be impressed that Arriva take the time and effort to carry out such schemes, it makes the bus service seem more localised and can add a little humour and interest to a bog standard journey.
There might be a time in the future when it starts to go over the top, but for now, to me, it seems like a good idea, and as seen as it isn't causing any issues, then I don't see anything wrong with it!
Well done to Arriva I say, its something different and adds a little unique-ness to the fleet.

I agree it adds uniqueness but those that name their fleet name it by the same thing throughout. GTL & Eddit Stobart lead the way in naming fleets, all simple and the same, the way forward if you ask me!

Haven't Brighton & Hove got the majority of their fleet named after local people. I suppose all these various quirky bus naming makerting iniatives Arriva Yorkshire launch to coincide with a new delivery do no harm. However it seems a waste of resources compared to back in April when Arriva changed the Kirklees network, the hyped marketing iniative only turned out to be a couple of drivers who didn't have much knowledge of the changes giving out leaflets. I'm sure passengers (customers) would much appreciate the that to some buses being named.

Its a good idea that, it probably gets people's attention more than just '283' or Dewsbury.
