Following the result of a ballot carried out by the ASLEF train drivers union, Midland Mainline is very disappointed to announce that strike action will be affecting its train services on the following dates: 25 October, 1 November and 8 November.
The ASLEF train drivers union are disputing the application of a pay award made to Midland Mainline drivers in 2001. The 2001 pay agreement saw a significant increase in basic pay and included changes to the final salary pension scheme relating to future pay, not for past service. This agreement was signed by Midland Mainline and ASLEF in 2001, some six years ago.
A very limited train service is planned to run on Thursday 25 October. Details are as follows, but may be subject to slight alteration:
Southbound
· 06.34 Derby to St. Pancras
· 07.34 Derby to St. Pancras
· 13.34 Derby to St. Pancras
· 14.34 Derby to St. Pancras
· 15.34 Derby to St. Pancras
These services will call at Long Eaton, Loughborough, Leicester, Market Harborough, Kettering, Wellingborough, Bedford, Luton Airport Parkway and London St. Pancras.
Northbound
· 09.00 St. Pancras to Derby
· 10.00 St. Pancras to Derby
· 16.00 St. Pancras to Derby
· 17.00 St. Pancras to Derby
· 18.00 St. Pancras to Derby
These services will call at Luton Airport Parkway, Bedford, Wellingborough, Kettering, Market Harborough, Leicester, Loughborough, Long Eaton and Derby.
Unfortunately, due to the limited service we are able to provide, no Midland Mainline services will be running from Leeds, Wakefield Westgate, Sheffield, Chesterfield, Nottingham, Beeston and Luton on Thursday 25 October.
For those passengers who already have tickets booked for Thursday 25 October, the following will apply:
· Passengers with Advance Purchase tickets booked for Thursday 25 October may travel on any Midland Mainline train on Wednesday 24 or Friday 26 October. We strongly recommend that reservations are made to guarantee seats
· The normal time of day restrictions on Savers, Off-Peak Day Travelcards and Cheap Day Returns will apply on Wednesday 24 and Friday 26 October
· Passengers who decide not to travel can receive a refund without charge. This also applies to single tickets booked for the other leg of a journey on an unaffected day provided both tickets are presented for refund at the same time
· Passengers who wish to change tickets already booked for Thursday 25 October may change their reservations for travel on another day without charge, subject to availability
· Tickets for which Thursday 25 October is the last day of validity may travel on Midland Mainline trains on Friday 26 October.
This website, midlandmainline.com, will be kept updated with any additional information and plans for services on the above dates.
