I saw a poster in Keighley Bus Station this afternoon advertising that from Wednesday 27th May, the electronic next departure boards will be showing real time information.
These should be useful as this afternoon when I was wating for the bus, 10 minutes after it should have left there was still no sign and almost half the people in the queue had left.

Yes they tested this out in Halifax bus station for about a week or two because it had the real times on display and it also said at the bottom of the departure board "System on test" (Or something like that anyway) so I knew they would do it in every bus station if it went ok, just like the shelters.

If they are like the ones in south yorkshire the following applies:
if the screen says : 75 bradway 3 min
then it means that the 75 service for bradway will bethere in 3 minites away and unless there is a problem then it wil be there in three minites - the bus is fitted with a transponder and its working !
if it says 75 bradway and a time ,
ie
75 bradway 1753
it means that the bus is due there at the time due (1753 on this occasion) , the bus is not fitted with a transponder or it is not working.

Yes, we already have them on the shelters here, just not in the Stations.

Why would they be testing it out when places like Batley, Cleckheaton, Ossett, Brighouse all have Real Time Boards that tell you when the bus is due just like on the shelter's but on a bigger board.

The electronic display boards at Keighley Bus Station are now displaying real-time information, Metro have announced. They say by the end of the summer the other 'older' bus stations (Bradford, Dewsbury, Halifax, Huddersfield, Leeds, Pontefract and Wakefield) will also be displaying real-time. www.wymetro.com/News/Busstationrealtime.htm

I must admit I wasn't really impressed with them on Saturday. I went for the 1107 760 and according to the boards, it was on time, counting down the time tillit was due. Then at 1107 the journey disappeared from the screen and went to show the next departure (1129). Even when the bus arrived at 1115 there was still no acknowledgement and was just the same as before the change. Hopefully its just teething problems which can be sorted out.

It sounds like the bus either didn't have a transponder then, or it wasn't working, and the screen was simply shwoing its timetabled departure time. Journeys should not just ''disappear'' if that is not the case.

All Keighley & District buses have the tracker fitted AFAIK, even the converted Mybus Volvo's. I guess it just wasn't working although it will be interesting to see what happens when a bus is swopped over

I see these systems regularly in Halifac centre and other places and always take them with a pinch of salt I'm afraid as their accuracy could definitely be improved

The main problem built into the system is when you are waiting for a bus near the start of its journey, at other times the system seems accurate
