Give us chance to find out... I will ask my sources when they get out of bed!

I don't wish to sound negative, but I've always found this batch of buses to be rather cramped with their low overall height and small windows - or is that part of the appeal? Sticking up for my local area I've always found the 1988 Halifax NC Olympians (originally 5151-5175 all recently withdrawn) to be better buses - there seems to have been very little fuss at their withdrawl!

The 5200-5222 batch were the last Leylands deliver to Yorkshire Rider which could explain why there been so much attention about them recently

I saw Volvo Olympian/Northern Counties 30758 (L405 PWR) pass me last night in York and possibly another one earlier (I was too far see if it was a different one). Are these just here for storage, service or passing through to another company? Aha, First have heard the cries of the people of York and are upgrading the number 1! Less noise at night, now that's what I call an upgrade!

A wander down to the depot in York this lunchtime showed no sign of L405 PWR. It must have moved on elsewhere or even back to Bradford.

Surely one should be preserved. We will presume from now on that any old step entrance bus that is to be withdrawn should be preserved...

If 30758 (5405) is in York it can only for training, a special service or some other non passenger carrying reason. York was the first depot to go all lowfloor if they need a double decker to cover any shortage I think they would got a ALX400 on loan instead

I dunno, didn't they borrow an Olympian from Bradford either Optare or Alexander a while ago?

Did York not borrow one of the 30685 - 30707 batch within the last year or so, but sent it back because it was not low floor? I seem to remember reading it - they got some B7TL instead... Who remembers these buses new with Yorkshire Rider - i seem to recall they had a kinda beep noise instead of a normal bell!!

When they were new they had standard Leyland rear lights but now all seem to be BMAC.

5405 was in use for a trip to flamingo land as private hire, as why it was near york.
