Since Easter it appears that Bradford depot is confining the surviving Alexander RL Olympians of the 30685-30707 (5200-5222) batch to school services as I only them on this type of work lately while Northern Counties examples have been seen regularly on normal service work

One was on the X6 recently according to the misallocations thread. That'll have been a pleasant blast from the past.

No problems with the guided busway on Manchester Road the X6 only makes one stop on it at Mayo Avenue heading towards Bradford and Leeds in fact with only one stop on the busway many journeys on the X6 do not use even though the buses are fitted with guidewheels it is much quicker to use the main carriageway

All these buses, 30685-30707 which are 1990 Leyland Olympians with Alexander RL bodies regd. G623, 601-622OWR, are all now withdrawn for disposal from FWY at Bradford. I am told that some are going direct to PVS and some are stored on behalf of FWY Bradford at Volvo Truck and Bus at Birstall due to lack of space at Bowling Back Lane depot.

Do you happen to know if any of the Volvo Olympians have been withdrawn, there have been reports that 30754 (L401PWR) has been withdrawn?
Also are 30676/8 (G183/185JYG) still in use?

Can"t be too many native Leylands left. Apart from the ex London and Bristol examples at Halifax, Huddersfield and Bradford there only 30229 (5176) 30231 (5178) and 30659 (5163) I think of the Leylands bought by FWY predecessors left in service

There is no more Leyland's left in service in Halifax anymore, 30659 was the last one in service, 30229 and 30231 was withdrawn about a month or two ago. There is also a YR XYG example getting preserved (don't know which one)

One of the OWR's should be preserved.

They were dealer stock buses not to YR specification so I wouldn't agree

I think that the London Buslines examples that when to Eastern Counties and a few that when to indipendent operaters Armchair and Chambers of Bure were place of the same dealer stock batch as the OWRs

I saw Volvo Olympian/Northern Counties 30758 (L405 PWR) pass me last night in York and possibly another one earlier (I was too far see if it was a different one). Are these just here for storage, service or passing through to another company?

Seen one of them this afternoon being towed south on the A650 out of Bradford. Do not think I will see that bus again

5210 -5222 (30695 - 30707) were delivered new to Huddersfield. 5217 was on Last of the Summer Wine when brand new, they turned a swimming pool car park into a makeshift Bus Station with 5217, one of the G-JYG Volvo B10M/Plaxton Derwents (1451 -1455) and a ROE bodied Atlantean. Cant remember exactly what happened but it involved someone pasting one of two huge "Yorkshire Rider" posters on the nearside where the adverts normally go. The man fell off the ladders in the normal Last of the Summer Wine style. The Bus was in service after with one of the posters on and a huge black area where the other had been ripped off and looked dead scruffy for a while!
