Following Arriva's announcement that they are putting up fare prices from this weekend, First have put a notice up on their Leeds site saying that following customers contacting First about whether they are doing the same, they have no plans to put up fare prices.
Dave Alexander MD for First West Yorkshire said "We are conscious that these are difficult times for our customers and we are making every effort to reduce our costs and avoid burdening our customers with increased fares".

I can see the headline now - "First in doing something good for once shocker!"

First Bradford even went as far as putting their fares down today, as I rode the 72 to Leeds today for free! (driver had no week-riders left so said to get it from another bus in Leeds)

Hold the front page! I can see the headline now - "First in doing something good for once shocker!" More like 'First doing nothing at all' - I'm not sure why people assume Arriva and First always increase fares together, they may do occasionally but its not a given.
