Didnt the great northern retail pk in Huddersfield (where sports direct/Homebase is) used to be a depot? Indeed it did, this was Great Northern St depot, commonly referred to as just Leeds Rd depot. The other depot in Hudds being on St. Thomas Rd at Longroyd Bridge. Prior to WYPTE's inception in 1974, the majority of Huddersfield Corporation's OMO buses were based at Longroyd Bridge, whilst the crew operated buses generally were based at Leeds Rd. St. Thomas Rd was the first to close in approx early 80's with everything transferring to Leeds Rd, this depot eventually closing, after being sold to the retail developers under the Badgerline/YR era around 95/6. Everything then at the new purpose built replacement at Old Fieldhouse Lane.

Queens Hall in Leeds was NOT Sovereign St Tram Depot, it was Swinegate Depot, and as far as I remember was never a bus depot. The Permanent Way Yard in Sovereign St was a bus depot, and later a minibus depot. Another depot in Leeds was Bramley Town End, the predecessor of the current one in Henconner Lane. For those who don't know, I believe it was just before the bridge over the By-pass, where there used to be/still is either a car dealers or a Petrol Station. Longroyd Bridge in Huddersfield was closed, I think, at deregulation in 1986. Remember taking a couple of ex Halifax Leopards there for storage. In Bradford, there was Horton Bank Top garage on the way to Queensbury, and Bowling Garage on the way to Dudley Hill, although I am led to believe this was mostly where the trolleybus driving school was based. There was a garage at Bolton Junction in Bradford, although, again, I think this was purely trolleybus. Being a Halifax lad, of course there was the Hebble garage off Gibbet St on Walnut Street, now demolished, and we must not forget the Phoenix Works in the Calder Valley, the derelict land of which is still visible today, anybody from the Valley should know where that was!!! 6540, the Huddersfield crew buses on the Halifax section were based at Longroyd Bridge, when I was at Halifax. Indeed, more than once I was sent there with a Halifax bus that was faulty, never got near Leeds Road. The only time I got to Leeds Road was for the Open Day in 1985, photos of which appear on my Flickr site cjr4712. Question, what was the last tram to leave Swinegate???

West Yorkshire had a depot are Grassington which then became a Post Office sorting office and regarding Frost Hill at Liversedge the depot was Yorkshire Woollen coaches I think and then the Hebble coach fleet then National travel North East and the NT East with an over spill parking area near the gas works at the opposite side of the road down one of the side streets, now that brings back memories!!!

Bradford Corporation had depots at Horton Bank Bank, Bolton Junction & Bowling Foundry Lane. There were also quite a few tram sheds in the Bradford area. Oak Lane(horsedrawn trams) Thornbury Thorhill Terrace, Saltaire Moorhead Lane & Exhibition Road, Fairweather Green & Lidget Green Necropolis Road.

The old Fairweather Green tramshed was used for many years by Hewitsons welders. So sparks were seen in the shed long after the trams had gone LOL !

West Riding had a depot in Featherstone, Wakefield Saville St next to the old bus station & the old South Yorkshire depot at Pontefract. Yorkshire Woollen had the depot / works at the end of the road from the current Dewsbury depot. WYRCC had a depot in Ilkley. WRCCC Ilkley depot was where the Lister Arms is now. I am told there is a pic of the depot in the bar. S Ledgard was corner of Little Lane and Nelson Road

Skipton. Newmarket St was WYRCC, sub of Keighley. Look for James Pye estate agent. That was WYRCC enquiry office. Garage was behind. Ribble had one on broughton Rd. Tapsell and West carpets ae in the building now. Used by Pennine after ribble left. Pennine had a garage where M&S food is today behind the town hall.
