Is there even a Student Village (the student accommodation brand) in Hyde Park? A search doesn't bring anything up. That is interesting. This would certainly be very useful for me if(?!) the new route also served Hunslet Shopping Ctr. Extended at both ends serving Hunslet Shopping centre providing daytime link from there to Leeds Bus Station and from Leeds Dock to shopping centre, also extended as a one way loop around Hyde Park via Victoria Road, Chestnut Avenue, Queens Road, Royal Park Road, Moorland Road, Clarendon Road, Woodhouse Lane.

Interesting. I can't remember a bus route ever coming off Headingley Lane on Victoria Road, even though it always seemed like an obvious way to go. Going back a while, the 55 (later renumbered 59, I think at deregulation) did Hyde Park Road (L) Headingley Lane (L) Victoria Road in the Headingley direction only. The other direction was Victoria Road (L) Buckingham Road (R) Headingley Lane (R) Hyde Park Road. For quite a while, the night bus up through Headingley also went from Headingley Lane on to Victoria Road before heading back via North Lane to Otley Road - but that was also in that direction only as the route was a giant loop which I seem to recall went back into town via Meanwood or thereabouts. (Many years later, long after the 55/59 was cancelled, I was told that it was originally planned to run via Buckingham Road in both directions - but due to the steepness of the hill, they had no buses that didn't ground the rear end on the turn out from Buckingham Road to Victoria Road. May or may not be apocryphal, but it's a good story!)

Yes the 183 is withdrawn from the 2nd January due to low patronage, I believe it links on to the 39 that runs from south elmsall to.pontefract and it gives u something like 25 minutes to run dead from ponte to south elmsall

Sorry I meant the 183 that is getting withdrawn that globe operate runs empty to Newstead for the 198 service rather than the 39

All the school services that Arriva were running in Calderdale - NH1, TA3, C36, C49 are now operated by First West Yorkshire

The X12 will be withdrawn due to low usage, and the traffic in Harrogate making it impossible to operate to time. More their crazy timetabling has come back to bite them. From the Duchy Road timing point the X12 is given for most journeys four minutes to complete a right turn onto the A61 at the Cairn Hotel and negotiate the typicallly staionary traffic through the traffic lights pass the conference centre and up the hill to the bus station. Transdev give, for example the 3, four minutes from the Cairn Hotel to the bus station.

Just noticed that from today, the 40 will start from stop Trinity O, wouldn't it have been better starting from a stop on the other side of the road? Bearing in mind it has a good 10 minutes layover as it is on Infirmary Street, would have been an even better idea to terminate at the underused 163/6 stop on Infirmary Street and do a circuit to re-start at Park Row where the 5 and 19 stop.

I thought the 163 now terminated at boar lane station a stop so doesn't use any of the Infirmary street stops. I know city square d stop on infirmary street has now replaced wellington street Wellington a stop so now is served by all the pudsey services

It won’t serve Infirmary Street anymore, just loop round Bishopgate Street back onto Boar Lane.

It will be the first time I will use the new stop arrangements tomorrow! Does anyone know which stops the 64 will terminate at and start at as neither First, Metro nor Connexions have mentioned anything and finishing and starting how it did until yesterday on Infirmary Street stand B (as did the 40) can't happen anymore as there is nowhere else to turn around to start facing eastbound on Infirmary Street? I know that Sunday only journeys on the 64 finish and start on Park Row as it interworks with the 15. What about the 64 Monday to Saturday (AM and PM peak and evening journeys that used to start and finish on Infirmary St) if anyone knows?

Thanks for your reply cp2012. That loop will take too long on an already very tight timetable since Connexions only use 3 buses instead of the 4 on the PVR they used to whilst still maintaining a 30 min headway. There is no left turn Queen St on to Wellington Street. I asked the office this morning and it will terminate at stop O on Boar Lane. The left Mill Hill, Right Bishopgate St, right Boar Ln and start stop Q Boar Ln like the 40 route will do now on.

Arriva changes for 29th January: 51 - Norton – Askern – Skellow – Carcroft – Adwick – DoncasterThere are changes to the timetable to improve punctuality. The service will still operate up to every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime, up to every hour Sunday daytime, and up to every hour each evening. 126 - Wakefield – Horbury – Ossett – Chickenley – Dewsbury There are changes to the timetable to improve punctuality. The service will still operate up to every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime, up to every 30 minutes Sunday daytime, and up to every hour each evening. 200/201 - Leeds – White Rose Shopping Centre – Morley – Cleckheaton/Batley – Heckmondwike There are major changes to the timetable with most journeys running 8 minutes later than today. This is following local feedback about the timing of onward connections. This also provides Heckmondwike Grammar students with better timed departures on service 201 after school. 202/203 - Leeds – White Rose Shopping Centre – Dewsbury – Mirfield – Huddersfield There are major changes to the timetable to improve punctuality. The service will still operate up to every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime, up to every 30 minutes Sunday daytime, and up to every hour each evening. 229 - Leeds – Gildersome – Birstall – Heckmondwike – Huddersfield There are major changes to the timetable to improve punctuality. The service will still operate up to every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime, up to every 30 minutes Sunday daytime, and up to every hour each evening. 250 - Heckmondwike – Dewsbury Moor - Dewsbury Metro provide a financial subsidy for us to run the evening service on this route, but unfortunately the cost of operating these evening trips is now too high, due to the rising cost of fuel, energy and wages. The trips aren’t being heavily used by passengers, and so they no longer meet Metro’s criteria for funding support. This has meant that some evening trips will no longer run. 254/255 - Leeds – Drighlington – Gomersal – Cleckheaton – Brighouse/Halifax Due to the closure and future pedestrianisation of City Square, Leeds City Council have designed Whitehall Road to be the primary access route for motorists accessing Leeds Railway Station. This has increased traffic on this road by a staggering 39% with routine queues and delays for our buses, especially at peak times. No bus priority has been considered for our services along Whitehall Road and so unfortunately we have to queue in the same traffic. This amount of congestion was unforeseen, and the delays we have recently experienced on the 254/255 route have not been acceptable. We would like to apologise to our customers for this, and we’d also like to apologise on behalf of Leeds City Council. We’re working with them to try to get an improvement to the congestion issues. In the meantime, most peak time journeys have been given a considerable amount of extra time in the timetable to make them more punctual. We recognise that this considerably slows down the advertised bus journey time, but is sadly now more reflective of our recent experiences battling through the traffic. The timetable is significantly altered to enable this additional run time. There will also be a later bus though Scholes from Leeds, following feedback from the local community. 260 - Cleckheaton – Roberttown – Hartshead – Colne Bridge – Kirkheaton – Dalton – Huddersfield There are changes to the timetable to improve punctuality. 261 - Cleckheaton – Heckmondwike – Roberttown – Mirfield – Kirkheaton – Dalton – Huddersfield Some peak time journeys have been retimed following feedback from parents of Heckmondwike Grammar students. Due to worsening congestion, some journeys have been given more time to make them more punctual. Metro provide a financial subsidy for us to extend some trips to/from Cleckheaton, but unfortunately the cost of operating these extensions is now too high, due to the rising cost of fuel, energy and wages. The trips aren’t being heavily used by passengers, and so they no longer meet Metro’s criteria for funding support. This has meant that the service will no longer extend to Cleckheaton. Passengers can change buses at Heckmondwike Hub onto service 200 towards Liversedge and Cleckheaton. 268 - Bradford – Low Moor – Cleckheaton – Heckmondwike – Dewsbury – Wakefield There are changes to the timetable to improve punctuality. The service will still operate up to every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime, up to every 30 minutes Sunday daytime, and up to every hour each evening. 271 - Cleckheaton – Gomersal – Heckmondwike – Carlinghow – Batley Metro provide a financial subsidy for us to run the evening service on this route, but unfortunately the cost of operating these evening trips is now too high, due to the rising cost of fuel, energy and wages. The trips aren’t being heavily used by passengers, and so they no longer meet Metro’s criteria for funding support. This has meant that some evening trips will no longer run. 280 - Dewsbury – Thornhill There are changes to the timetable to improve punctuality. The service will still operate up to every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime, up to every 30 minutes Sunday daytime, and up to every hour each evening. 281 - Birstall Retail Park – Birstall – Batley – Dewsbury There are changes to the timetable to improve punctuality. The service will still operate up to every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime and up to every hour Sunday daytime. 283/283A - Bradford – Tong Street – Birstall – Batley – Dewsbury There are changes to the timetable to improve punctuality. The service will still operate up to every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime, up to every hour Sunday daytime, and up to every hour each evening. 377/378 - Huddersfield – Marsh – Oakes – Quarmby – Mount There are changes to this timetable to improve punctuality. To improve timekeeping, in the Huddersfield direction, the trips will swap time slots, with both 377 and 378 running on the opposite half-hour compared to today. 408/409 - Pontefract – Darrington – Womersley / Thorpe Audlin – Wentbridge Following customer requests, both services 408 and 409 will have a slightly different route through Wentbridge northbound, serving The Great North Road through Wentbridge village, before joining the A1M at the next junction. Due to traffic congestion and poor parking, at school times these routes are no longer able to serve Crest Drive. 571 - Halifax – Southowram – Brighouse – Lightcliffe – Hipperholme – Shelf There are changes to the timetable to improve punctuality. Due to poor car parking near to the Duke of York pub in Shelf, the service will no longer use Shelf Hall Lane. Instead, buses will operate northbound along Spring Head, Witchfield Hill and Carr House Lane, before returning via Cooper Lane, Carr House Road, Witchfield Hill and Spring Head. www.arrivabus.co.uk/latest-news/arriva-yorkshire---service-changes-from-29th-january

Arriva in with the boot aimed at WYCA again, and I don't blame them. Whitehall Road desperately needs looking at. It's a shame there's no bus-only cut through onto Wellington Street through some of the new office blocks down there.
