Halifax: The Enviro 400s are now starting to reappear on service work with 33887-90 37129-32 having Elland Line stickers for the 501/X1 corridor, while the 474 Streetlites have transferred onto School Duties. Todmorden to become DD! Having now seen the Elland Lines branding, it’s so low key it’s almost not worth doing

Here's an interesting question regarding the advertising hoarding on these buses, York City Council funded the hoardings and so these buses were not allowed to be loaned or transferred to another division, so have First paid off York Council? These are looking very scruffy by the way, have First York never heard of a bus wash?

It would be normal in such circumstances that the funding was tied to the bus remaining in a specified area for a certain number of years (5 years is quite common even if the whole bus is partly funded not just hoardings) and 16 years is well beyond any reasonable agreement so it is unlikely there is any caveat remaining on those buses over hoardings fitted when new so it is unlikely First had to pay anyone.

Not so long ago wern't these were ear marked for transfer but a mistake had been discovered when it was realised that YCC didn't allow them to be loaned or transferred apparently and they had to transfer vehicles from elsewhere? Something like 2 or 3 years ago?

Something like 2 or 3 years ago? Which, if the case, is a ridiculous agreement for both parties to tie themselves into but may have been related to what else was happening. For the operator it ties your hands on fleet decisions over a period of time that is impossible to forsee the long term requirements and for the local authority you are enforcing an older bus fleet than necessary over a minor funding stream well after a sensible council would want the buses gone as life expired. If it was still active I could see First turn round, if they were sensible, and say we can move the old buses out or the new buses out and let the council choose at which point I doubt they would kick up a fuss over transferring 16 year old diesels which have been replaced by brand new electrics. We had some funding over exhaust after treatment equipment being fitted which tied the buses to the city for x number of years but with a release if they are replaced by newer & higher exhaust spec buses (so effectively they can only be moved out if directly replaced by genuine Euro 6 vehicles which will be both newer & probably cleaner) and similar covenant may have been there which may have meant First were trying to swap with similarly aged vehicles (deckers?) as they needed singles elsewhere which would have been caught but if they had been replaced by new they could have gone though no one outside the senior managers at the operator & council will know the actual wording that caused the issue.

Doesn't appear to have been reported here yet but 69273/69469 on loan from Bradford to Leeds Bramley to cover for a shortage of serviceable guided buses, with 35262/35578 covering at Bradford for these two. Similarly, 37070/37298 are on loan from Hunslet to Bramley for the same reason, with 35565/35607 at Hunslet to cover.
In other news brand new Kite 63582 was shot at by kids up at Old Farnley last night with several windows broken - nobody was injured and its back out in service this morning despite this.

69366 transferred from York to Huddersfield. That would be quite possibly the one i posted about on the "spotted" thread. Any more of these to come from York?

The first of Leeds’ Wright Streetdeck Electroliners, 36594 (MA24 EOM) has entered service this afternoon. All 32 of the Kites have now been delivered with just three left to enter traffic. Ex-Manchester B9TL 37432 has also come into service today out of Hunslet.
